Hi Just got recently used prius 2010 and noticing low humming noise while driving.. every couple of minutes at slow speeds.. not sure how it is at higher speeds. Sounds that noise coming from somewhere front.. and remind like air conditioner in older car moving some parts when you switch from hot to cold . is that normal? sounds happen when ac is on and off.
Can you put up a videos/recording of the noise? YouTube's a good place for videos. Is it an interior or exterior sound? Is it the same sound if you pump the brake pedal a few times?
interior sound.. will try to make video.. it is not loud at all and last couple of seconds and would only be noticeable if very quiet
It might be the hydraulic brake pump motor. With the vehicle in Ready, pump the brake pedal a few times. This should trigger the pump motor. See if you hear the same sound. By the way, this pump also runs for several seconds when first opening the driver's door when the car is parked.

Yes, its normal. The Prius makes quite a few sounds that conventional gas cars don't. I guess it just takes getting used to them.
