After spending an inordinate amount of time reading the forum over the past few months ;), it was time to time to take the leap of faith:

Prius Four (Hypersonic Red) with ATP + PCP

The sticker price shock hasn't hit yet since they hadn't established the 100% final price .

Guess I can always blame the forum the great information and for convincing me to go for what I really wanted :p.

How do you buy a car without knowing the price?

    Do you know the MSRP?

    Cost of ATP?

    Cost of PCP?

    Prius 4: MSRP $29,550
    ATP: $1935
    PCP: $1705

That's quite a bit more than my 2004 Gen2 ($25,000, with all the tax credits to boot), but since it's a keeper for at least the next decade....

How do you buy a car without test driving it? Can the order be cancelled if you don't like it?

Anyone that orders a car built by the factory has to put down a deposit, be it ever so humble, if when the car arrives they don't want it they lose the deposit. In this case, as the vehicle will appear in the third quarter of 2016, will the retail price charged go up or down? It's a car dealer...good luck.

    A Prius 4T is only $450 More than a 4?

You're paying 33,190 for a 4 With moonroof +HUD and 15" wheels and no fogs

    vs

31,705 for a 4T with PCP which has 17" Wheels + Integrated Fogs but no moonroof or HUD

    Sound about right?

Technically, the cars are not ordered, (especially in Toyotas case) but rather allocated from the pipeline. Whenever I've "ordered" a car, the deposit has always been 100% refundable.

Not sure whether the question was addressed to me, but in Portland, OR here. From the tenor so far, should I already be having buyer's (technically pre-orderer's) remorse ?

4T would cost a little more:

$31,900 MSRP + another 1705 for the PCP.

All the articles I've read said the highest trim is $30,000 Where did you get 31,900?

That's what I was quoted as being the Toyota MSRP...seems like it's time to take them task about it?

They acknowledged that the 4T price was a mistake -- it should have been $30,900 ($30,000 + $900 "destination charge"). Regardless, it does seem the the difference between 4T+PCP vs. 4+ATP+PCP is really small.

If you're in OR, the DPH is $835.

    2016 Prius Pricing
Model # Model Body Style Transmission Grade MSRP
1223 Prius Hatchback CVT Two $24,200
1224 Prius Hatchback CVT Two Eco $24,700
1225 Prius Hatchback CVT Three $26,250
1226 Prius Hatchback CVT Three Touring $28,100
1227 Prius Hatchback CVT Four $28,650
1228 Prius Hatchback CVT Four Touring $30,000
All prices listed above exclude the Delivery, Processing, and Handling (DPH) fee.

Return of the Disrupter: All-New 2016 Toyota Prius Rewrites the Hybrid Rule Book It Created | Toyota

The MSRP for all Prius models does not include the delivery, processing, and handling (DPH) fee of $835. The DPH fee for vehicles distributed by Southeast Toyota (SET) and Gulf States Toyota (GST) may vary.

Something's not right with your numbers. You're missing the DPH on the 4T w/ PCP. It's a $585 difference IF you use akhare's dealer's number of $900 for DPH.

...as Mark Twain once said, everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.

    Glad somebody finally did something.
