I have a 2010 Silver Prius with limo tint which is 5%. The front brow goes down about 1/3 the length of the front windshield. I considered initially tinting the front windshield as well but did not b/c I have to put stickers and etc on the glass so I didn't want random adhesive sticking to the tint, so I opted for the brow. The brow is 5% as well.

The Prius has too many windows and just lets in too much light.

With the 5% it will protect my leather interior and also keeps the car cool in general, with summer coming up.

These pictures were taken in broad daylight so there was not a cloud in the sky.

Looks great but no way it'd pass here in NYC, plus I hate driving cars with 5% at night, it's just too dark... But like I said, for those in states who allow it, it does look great!

its a little dark if you are not used to it. if there are no lights then it can be somewhat challenging, but all in all i love it. the only thing is the cops though. i don't have a vehicle inspection i need to pass. also in my area everyone has 5% so i am assuming it is not that big of a deal.

there was a rolls royce phantom (huge car) and Jaguar XK8 on 20" chrome rims getting tinted limo as well.

iphone sucks for typing. Anyways, the tint would look good on ur white prius. I wanted to get either a white or silver prius. Both colors hide scratches. I'm thinking about putting in a brushed aluminum trim in the interior at some point.

Figured I'd bump my tinted windows as summer is coming up. I measured the brow. It is 14" fron the top of the glass. Yes I am aware my tint is not legal.

Looks absolutely stunning Superdrol - I have 16% on mine and I like it. I think its a great amount. However, I would love going 5% haha. I would be invisible to the outside world. Looks great!

Good luck if you get pulled over, though - the ticket can be steep, and in many states, the officer will simply slash through the tint with a key, or make you peel it off right there.

Here in FL, you have to have a legal doctor's note for limo tint, or an investigator's license, to go that dark. If it weren't for the cop hassle (the guy that installed my new windshield has had cops X through his TWICE, even with the correct paperwork, leading to time getting that county to pay for the replacement tint), I'd get the paperwork and go darker, as the legal 5% 6" band on the front of mine is just about dark enough for my light sensitive eyes, the legal tint on the other windows is a bit weak.

I think the legal limit on the brow is 4" or 6" something like that. I'm not sure about the darkness. I should probably just tint the whole windshield. ha.

A lot of cars here have 15%-5% limo tint. I don't see many cars with the legal limit of 35%. Not to say that it is ok to put it on, but when I go out and see 70% of the cars on any given day with limo tint, it is not enforced enough strictly either.

Thanks. Your car looks pretty sharp as well. I've written about this in other posts, but originally I got 15% just like you. The place I went to scuffed my window, there was lots of white dots and sh*t under the tint and gaps. All around a picture perfect botched tint job. It was one of the worst that I have had and the shop was really bad. They refused to re-do it so finally I got a refund instead. I went to a new shop and decided to just get the 5% metallized. I also didn't realize it, but the original 15% I got was dyed, not ceramic or metalized.

My tint is very shiny on the surface b/c it is metallized vs. the ceramic based tint. I havent had any issued with cell phone signal and metallized tint, I think that's just a exaggeration.

I don't mind the 15%, the 5% and 15% look the same in the shade, just when it is sunny out, there's a little more give in the 15%, but it's not really a big difference between the 2.

Do you have any issues backing up ? That's the only downside is backing up at night with no light. If there's light then there's not an issue.

I've got the 5% on backs and 15% on fronts (sorry, always forget to do pictures) and even the 15% can be challenging at night time. However, it does make a HUGE difference in the summer in regards to interior temp.

I have noticed a lot of headlight scatter through the back window, and keep forgetting to call the place that tinted to see if that's considered normal. Although, I haven't seen them at the location they were at last summer when they did my car, so I'm a little concerned about that. Anyone else have the scatter issue with the 5% limo tint on the back window?

yeah I have the same thing. Just the way the tint sits on the defroster strips sometimes creates that light distortion. The defroster strips are pretty thick on the Prius so even microgaps around them is also normal.

I'm sorry you have had some negative experiences with previous tint installers! I did weeks and weeks of research to find out where to get mine done - and it was just one individual who had done it for over 25+ years. I'm glad that it was done right and such. Backing up IS a challenge sometimes. It really depends if I am in a familiar location. Along with if there is a street light or not. If it's really all that bad I'll roll down my window and peek my head out if I absolutely cannot see. It's not terrible though. I normally park so I can pull out and avoid backing up anyway.:D

Is 15% legal in Alabama ? I know there are a few states that allow 15%. I haven't done any other mods yet. I want to put in an HID kit 5000k white light at some point. I had the 8000k hids before in my old Camry. It was a cop magnet and not as functional as a 5000k.

I prefer to keep the hub caps on just bc if I scrape the wheels on a curb I can replace them. I really like the rims on the prius v.

Regarding the tint I called around and went to the first shop. It is a shame you have to find someone who is allegedly good at their profession despite the fact that they should be a professional because they do the work fulltime. Anyways so bc of y bad tint job I opted not to get a clear bra. I've seen a Subaru where that got botched and the hood had to be repainted bc it got messed up. Things like that are nothing short of a nightmare and excess stress. If anyone has been thru something like that you know what I mean.

At any rate the less someone has to mess with my car the better so I just stick with DIY mods tbh.

When I got my tint done a second time I went early before they were running late and a soldier that just got back from Afganstan had his black BMW done 5% all around and 15% on the windshield. It looked good.

If I am forced to take mine off then I may strip it off myself. You only live once I guess.

Wow ... looks real sweet! I agree either grey or white looks deadly with heavy tint.

We ended up only going 35%, had never had tint before, in hindsight I probably would have preferred somewhere around 20%, but still like the look as is.

Hey I saw the blue light for the shift knob in your pictures. Looks pretty cool. Did you swap it out with a blue LED bulb ?

Thanks for the comment, but the light is the same as the one in everyone's Prius as I have not changed it, but I like the idea.

The blue hue might be from the time of day, very early in the morning and the tint?? not sure.

Looks great! Everywhere I go in my town I am told that they won't install illegal tint because they don't want to be liable for it. I don't understand this because the driver/owner of the car is the one resposible for that. I couldn't find anyone to do it. I will keep looking.
