This is just out as of 26 May 2011 from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. IIHS news release

Here is the snipit that is of most interest to us. :cheer2:

In the latest group, the Toyota Prius hybrid is a Top Safety Pick and also one of the most fuel-efficient cars on the market, with estimates of 51 miles per gallon in the city and 48 mpg on the highway. Altogether, 10 small and minicar models with government fuel economy ratings of at least 40 mpg on the highway also earn Top Safety Pick.

The results are for Prius manufactured after Dec 2010. What would be the difference on earlier made Pri?

There is another thread for this dated in Dec 2010, this is a newer release.

I also wonder what the difference is in cars produced after 12/10. MY car was made 10/10. Also does has anyone found any video footage of the Prius in this latest test by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety?

I think it might have to do with roof strength. On the Insurances Institutes page of the Prius it was models produced after 12/10 under the roof strength test that received the highest score. Any video of the roof strength test and the Prius?

I didn't think anything changed. Could the date just be based on when the testing was performed?

It was based on the manufacture date. All Gen III's should be the same.
