Now, now. We all know that no nickel is mined anywhere for any reason other than putting it into Prii. We simply can't have people like you spreading the lie that other people in the world use nickel. Nope, it all goes into the Prius, all the time. :D
  2. David Beale
Not only that, but the refinery etc. in Canada is now the cleanest in the world. Most of the damage was caused during the early years, when the nickle was used in sinks, trim on cars, etc. in stainless steel.

BUT I do agree that the Prius is NOT a "green car" (unless yours is that colour). NO CAR is "green". They are all hard on the environment, the Prius is just less so. The sooner people get that -FACT- into their heads, the better off we all will be. But it looks like it will never happen, and we are dooming ourselves to a polluted hot world.

Yes I hear they are coming out with another report that the Hummer is better for the environment than a vespa scooter, because the lifespan of the scooter is 35 miles, so if you compare that to the 300,000 miles the hummer would last, you would throw away 8,751 scooters!!!!

I thought The Washington Post was a respected professional newspaper.
  5. Philosophe
This is not from the Washington Post but rather in a letter to the Post.
  6. zenMachine
But the fact that they still post this letter, long after this crapola has been debunked, says a lot.

If you read the comments to the comment in the Washington Post, you will see evidence of an epidemic disorder. People with obsessive and irrational hatred of the Prius that think it was invented in Japan as part of a vast leftist conspiracy.

Did the Wright Brothers read stuff like this?

"Minnesotans for Global Warming" pretty much says it all. I do believe Toyota needs to get busy with some anti-rumor ads. Apparently the new ads are very popular with the public, but this stuff can become the snowball rolling downhill.

I wonder if it is time to put a little reverse spin:
Yeap, that ought to do it. After all, look at the complaints filed over in "Consumer Affairs." Do you really want people like that to be buying a Prius? No, we need to steer them to the honorable competition. <GRINS>

I really can't believe made-up crap like this still finds an audience outside hillbilly communities

Even our local radio has talked about this. Being typical dumb jocks (their own comments) they preface the topic with numerous caveats, "who knows if this is true ... ", or, "... it doesn't sound believable ..." etc. So it's likely the "buy american" crowd (that don't even know there ARE no such thing as 100% U.S.A. made cars), are the only folks that get their panties in a bunch about Subury nonsense. PC'ers only get upset because they think normal people may possibly believe this hooie. I doubt it.

Bob: I do like the Tom Sawyer take btw !!
Oh, and someone else posted the Washington post thread on PC too. Can't remember where. It'll likely continue to be talked about for decades ... as long as there are people wearing tin foil hats.

ALL this crap "dont" bother me at all. let 'em say what they will and we'll just cruise along with our near-perfect prius'.

The saying "PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS" ring true everyday i look around. The harder you look, the more idiots you find. it's amazing.

Good lord! As usual, it's the stupid junk "science" and myth that refuses to die. I don't even have time to anymore to post a rebuttal and point people to correct information each time I encounter it.

I'm telling you man, it's the Wizard's First Rule in effect again....

I really do not care if it is "Green" or not....
I bought it because I can get 400+ miles for about 8 gal of gas!!!

LMAO ... look all of those sites are populated by idiots. There is no reason to 'teach a pig to sing ... it won't work and it annoys the pig.'

No, it will melt before reaching the bottom.
