    Hi everyone,

I'm a very satisfied new Prius owner, now at 3k miles.

Just recently, I've noticed a beeping pattern at startup that has not been consistent. As I remember, when pressing the start button, a series of yellow icons lights on the dash and I had heard a series of two rapid beeps followed by three or four farther spaced beeps.

Lately, I've only been getting the two rapid beeps and nothing more on start ups, and sometimes the sequence reverts to two beeps then a=the series of three or four steady beeps. (icons still light up.)

The car and battery are operating perfectly normally.

So, is this normal, and what does the difference in the audibles indicate?

    Thanks!

Just a thought, three or four additional beeps on startup can come from:

    1) Driver side seatbelt if you haven't belted up before starting the car
    2) Passenger side seatbelt if your passenger hasn't belted up
    3) Passenger side seatbelt if you have something heavy in the front seat, and it think's there's a person there
    4) Shifting into reverse if you have not disabled the reverse beep.

Any of these can come or go as your driving habits change....
