Glad you got them working! When you see them come on as you walk up to the car, it is all worth it, right? :)

It is pretty amazing. There's such a big wow factor that I wonder why Toyota just didn't make this an option.

When I bought them they were $149.99 plus shipping.

Just wondered if the ground wire for the puddle lights be tapped from the footwell lighting.

I found that the white with black stripe wires were tied to ground. I just tied into one of those from the footwell connector.

Just want to make it clear. The ground wire for the puddle light I was talking about is the same as the the ones tap from the A pillar. Are you saying that this could be done using the common ground wire from the footwell connector? I was reading your post and you stated you used the pink wire at the ECU. Just need some clarification. Thanks.

I noticed that his is 2012 Prius v and yours is 2011 Prius, so I am afraid that the wire color codes may be different. As for the elusive puddle light ground wire that several members who own the V had to tap in from the head board which was a pain in the neck (pun intended!). I had my V connected to the green led on the power button which was much easier to access. Note also that, once the car is locked and you approach the car with the remote, the puddle light will come on. I will check tomorrow if the courteousy foot-well orange led works the same way as the puddle light.

Sorry, no, the puddle lamps do not tap into ground. Was thinking of the ground connections for the marker and signal lights.

Very impressive, tech detail in this thread. I wouldn't try it. Too scared! But it really looks nice. Even more important it serves as an additional safety feature. Better visibility and better visual cueing to your turning direction. I need to look around for a good auto mechanic. I bet the dealer would rape me on this mod.

I do have the regular prius 2 and already installed the jdm turn signal lights. I will be picking up my V five shortly and this is my to do list with my coming V. The A pillar was surely easier than the ECU location and thought I'd look for some alternative and you gave me one already - power button option. But thought about the footwell lights if they come on at the same time with the dome light. I gathered that the V five's footwell light dims when driving but brighter when you enter the vehicle. Just want to know if the initial trigger to the footwell lights will work as the dome light ground.

I just checked it; the foot-well orange lights do NOT come on when I approach my V with the smart key (after I locked the car of course). However when I opened the door, all lights are on which are the dome, the puddle and the foot-well (again assuming that you have the dome light set to be on when the door is open).

I can't tell if the foot-well dims while on the run though.

To tap the dome light by removing the A-pillar and part of the overhead board will be tough to most of us.

I'll probably go with the start button. Any tips on how to remove the start button and which wire do I connect it to?

The cover plate can be pried open using the panel tools. As for the wire color, I don't remember but I just used the circuit tester locate the green LED's wire on the harness under the cover plate.
    Good luck.

Did the paint match perfectly with the car's color?

Finally got the set from MIT. Will be doing something I never had done before but I'm confident about it. I will be using my original mirror covers by trimming it down to specs by just taking my time . The color just don't match. :( I'll post a picture when it is done.
