Prius v Wagon (only) MPG - Please Post Your Results

This video should help you get started. It's based on the GenIII lift back but applies to the v as well.

Prius V: Within a week of purchase (mid-November, 2011) we drove a 1400 mile round-trip (Tucson to San Antonio) and got a trip average of 44MPG (2 people in car). Now we have about 5000 miles on the car and get a steady 47MPG around town. We're in flat terrain and Arizona weather - little heat and no AC used at present. Have not attempted to manually calculate MPG, but I used an iPhone app (there are many to choose from) on our previous car and found it worked well.

It's possible they stopped filling at the first click and didn't fill it as fully as the dealer did. That's happened to me before and gives a false high-mileage reading. That's why it is more useful to calculate average mpgs over the course of many full-ups.

Actually I was with the dealer at fill up. When it clicked they stopped, I did the same. We will see but very pleased with the first results.

Hypermiling techniques used: still learning but was trying pulse and glide with feathering to engage EV at low speeds. used ECO for this tank.
Other: I am shocked at this mileage but have checked 3 times I didn't miss anything. It's accurate. I am filling to the first shut off but NOT using the same station or pump. Filled at different time of day as well. I'm thrilled!

Finally some WARM weather last week up here in the north country and I am thrilled to report my current tankful has been displaying 50-52 mpg! I have almost 5000 miles on my P-v and have been struggling all winter to get my cumulative average up to 40 -- best single tank prior to this was 42.

I have learned a ton of useful tips from this list about how to improve mileage, but warmer weather just gave me a quantum leap. No longer envying those of you living in Florida or Arizona .... there is hope for me yet! Of course it's 10 degrees again this morning, on top of the 10" of snow we got yesterday, so I won't be driving again until it warms up to the predicted 53 degrees -- don't want to blow my great running average on this tankful!

+ 1 to everything MontPriusV said. Except no snow in central NY now. Very unusual but very good for the current new high car reported MPG on this tank of 322 miles with 48MPG. Previous best was last tank at 41.1MPG.

Accelerating to speed limit at 3-bars above center line and dropping the to 3-bars above bottom line.

Prius V -5 first tank combination city and highway, temp in the 70s 43.6 MPG man I love this thing gas just went to $3.99/gallon this morning.

2000 miles on our "v" Two model and average (based on gallons used) is a tad over 46MPG (computer says 48.5MPG over 2K mile total). We tend to push the EV mode to the edge and play with keeping it in the green "ECO" range. I find that hills are the enemy... as the "v" definitely does not stand for vertical!

I also find that if I need power, it's there. I just find that there is actually more power in my life by using less power while driving.

My Prius V has 6700 miles on it. Since it warmed up this week my current tank of gas is getting around 46 mpg. I have noticed when it gets cold I get around 43.5 mpg then when it gets warmer it goes back to around 46mpg.

After driving my wife's 4.8 X5 tonight (in a particularly non-eco manner), I can categorically state that the opposite is true.

Just sayin'.

My Fuel Mileage was Great for the first 3000 miles Now about 5000 the Mileage seems not so Great. I was Getting around 40 in-town driving and Maybe 36 on the Highway. Now its 33 in Town and 22 to 26 on the highway. The Car seems to Run Great. I've have worked on Cars since the Age of 8 and no one seems to be able to give me any answers. I have had it at the Dealer ship and we went through the system several times after hours and weekends. Any Clue. Its kind of hard tom believe . The car Runs Great. No Miss fires.
