    is the server often down?
is the server often slow when up?

i don't think i've experienced a time when the server responded "fast" and is pretty much the slowest newsgroup forum in my experience.

anyone know why this is the case?
no matter where i log in from (school, work, home, friends house, etc.), the server seems to be having some delay issue of some sort.

    sigh

Yes, performance is ridiculous. We're moving to a new site software hopefully by this weekend at the latest.

I'm also looking for some help to optimize the server (namely the mySQL configuration), or if anyone wants to donate a few gigs worth of space and about 150GB/month of transfer, I'm open to offers

I hope the new software works 10 time better. I can't deal with this slowness. It takes me all day to catch up on a few days of reading, and I can't keep up.

Believe me, I feel your pain. It takes me 2 hours and 3 server reboots just to be able to check my PMs.
