I finally got around to modifying the front end mask to add a radiator blocker. I now have V .01 alpha on my car. It is not great but functional. Appears to work as well in our mild temps as the sun shade blocker on the radiator and the foam pipe insulation. Still needs modification. I did make a few discoveries first that hook side of Velcro attaches nicely to the felt lining of the Bra.

So first I made a pattern from paper. You will notice that the top grill pattern is asymmetrical. I am experimenting on the best way to attach it on the bottom the Right side pattern is closer to what I want. Also the lower grill pattern is too large as you will see.

The next photo shows the top grill from under the hood. Toyota thoughtfully provided several fasteners to attach the upper edge! The two taps fold over attachment points for the bra.

The final is the full install showing the bottom grill. As you can see the cover is not tight. I need to make it smaller and I think I can use less than full length Velcro and that will make it easier to fit and adjust.

The areas around the fog lights are open, in a severe climate I wonder if you could use a clear Vinyl to cover those areas. This also allows some cooling for the inverter. I have not found inverter temps on the CAN View yet and may not as the drawing in NCF show an apparent direct connection to the HV ECU for inverter, and MG2 temps. I now have to add the zippers. I saw some stick on zippers to make doors or openings in blue tarps. Stick it on cut down the open zipper and off you go. I think that I will do that to the prototype and check out the functionality. Once I get everything adjusted I am going to get some one to sew up a final version. Before I do that I am going to remove the Bra on the lower part and get a better idea of size and fit. I installed all of this with the bra on the car, but it maybe that the best way would be to remove the lower portion and install the blocker off the car and then put the entire assembly on. With zippers to adjust the flow being able to install and remove it with out taking the Bra off the car. Well back to the drawing board.[attachmentid=1813][attachmentid=1814][attachmentid=1815][attachmentid=1816]

wow, that's some real attention to detail there. nice job, it looks very good on the car. how's your mpg been since you got it installed?

the only thing that comes to mind with an actual zipper is that somehow the paint may get scratched if you're not careful. but otherwise it sounds like a good plan. let us know if you get that up and running :)

I thought about that but I can get plastic zippers and that should help. I was also thinking of a "draft" flap to protect the grill from the hard plastic parts. The zipper will be one of the double ended types so it will be more versatile.
