I'm sure there is a good reason, but please explain why, when braking in reverse, there seems to be no "charge" indication on the HSI...for example, backing down a long driveway, etc. Thanks for the lesson from the tech gurus on this site!

Because MG1 can not be used as a generator in reverse.? I am just guessing.

Well unless they changed something in the 3 from the 2. My 05 has regen in reverse. You just have to be going way faster then you normally would or should.

Perhaps it is to discourage you from looking forward at the HSI while driving backward fast enough and braking hard enough to invoke regen.

regen braking forward only works from a certain speed on. Cant remember how fast, but that is way faster I ever drive in reverse.

How fast do you go in reverse?

You have to be going faster than 7mph to get regen on braking.

If I do 200' worth of backing up in a day, that's a lot. Doesn't seem to be much of an issue. :D

Just curious ... how fast you are backing out ??? No regen-breaking slower then about 7-8MPH going forward either !! So unless you 'race' backward and then break no regen ....

And if you were going faster then that you better NOT watching HSI in the first place :) but YMMV of course
