We just bought a 2008 prius with 200k miles. It has the level V trim package- so all the goodies.

It failed inspection because of front brakes.

I've done brake pads dozens of times- but I know the prius has some things you need to do- like keep the key fob away!

Can somebody suggest a good overview of doing pads on a gen 2 prius for experienced mechanics?

    Thanks-

    1. Disconnect the 12V battery first to avoid logging DTC in the skid control ECU as you are working on the brakes, and also to prevent the brake actuator pump from running when the disc pads are removed
    2. Do not try to open the brake lines or flush the brake fluid without having Mini VCI (Toyota Techstream clone) available and an understanding of how to activate the various solenoids in the brake actuator. Repair manual info is available at techinfo.toyota.com
