1st oil change @ 10k miles - I've put the results below in case anyone is curious.
I added the TBN measurement, if you don't know what it is:

I'm not going to be extending my oil change intervals but it's still nice to know how much active additive is left after 10k miles.

Here's a quick summary of what to look for on an oil analysis.

HotDogWater's oil looks good, as long as copper trends down over time and no other trace metals like tin or lead start to show. It'd be unusual to see much more on a new engine.

Thanks for the info. Looks pretty similar - interesting to see that some of your values didn't come down until after the 10k.

How much did they charge you for your oil sample?

$25 for the regular sample, an extra $10 for the TBN

    Aluminum 50% high
    Copper very high
    Silicon very high.
Moly high but indicative of additive content; good.
Cu and Si are indicative of bearing wear as I remember.
Couple others are higher than typical but I don't see much problem but Cu and Si can be a problem.

The report indicates some wear in bearings but doesn'yt look serious yet; Other wear analysis components look pretty normal, even those that are a toward the high side of the normal range. And its not unusuasl for silicon to be above usual in first 10k as the rings wear and bed in. The thing to be aware is any change in those bearing materials as time goes on, particularly Cu and Si. One thing to be carefulis the hardship the engine has seen. The more an engine is stressed the more the wear.
