Does anyone know how to turn off the reverse beep on the 2010 Toyota Prius without having the dealer do it. The 2004-2009 was easy to do... Let me know if anyone knows the steps. Thanks a lot...

    It's a dealer-only customization.

From your others posts here, I thought that you were a dealer? Don;t they tell you how to disable it? Maybe you would be able to teach us?
(I assume that it needs to be connected to a machine to do it?)

Only the dealer can do it. I took mine in last Tuesday and had them change it. Actually, there are a whole bunch of settings that the dealer can change. For instance, I had them set my Prius so that the doors lock when I reach 12 miles per hour, not when the shift lever is moved out of park.

For a list of settings the dealer can change, look in the owner's manual (can't remember the page, but it's near the back).

And it's free. Don't let any dealer tell you there's a fee.

I just brought my car back to the dealership to get the inspection sticker and I asked the tech and he said that he has no idea about any of that stuff and I would have to talk to the guy who sold me the car. I found that interesting as this was the guy who works on the cars....

My tech guy said he had just taken a class on the Prius. So I guess it depends on which tech you get - if you get the guy that never had the class, you get a blank stare.

I know that only a dealer can do it. My whole point is that 'Yotarep' IS a dealer, and yet he is asking us on how to do this?!>?!?

The reverse beep issue really should become a sticky.

The doors locking at 12 - 14 mph can be done by the owner, only the reverse beep needs the dealer.

Agree. The doors locking can be changed by owner. There are more than one available option. Check your manual, as it clearly describes how to change it.

This thread dates back to the time before Adrianblack, RobH, and others discovered how to change the backup beeper and seat belt beeper using a ScanGaugeII. You can set the backup beeper to one beep and turn off the extra warning beeps for the front seat belts using the Xgauge feature of the ScanGauge. Check out this thread: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...discussion/64406-scangaugeii-work-2010-a.html

Note: ScanGaugeII is available through the Priuschat Shop at a discount.
