Has anyone come across a dealer who is willing to discount the Safety Connect multi-year subscription?
    Thanks.

    * I believe the money goes to Toyota to pay for that service, since Toyota itself bears the expense for it.

Any discount given by a Dealer to a consumer would have to be subsidised by that Dealer, just as though they were giving you (for example) Floor Mats that cost them $120, someone has to pay for that FREEBIE to you!

Annual costs are $139.95. That is a fixed price item from Toyota Financial Services and TMS. The billing comes directly from Toyota after the one year trial period.

Is this the first Toyota to ship with Safety Connect?

I'm guessing that more info about this program will become available in 2010 when people start getting closer to their expiration dates.

$139.00 seems pretty expensive to me

I won't be subscribing after my free year trial is over

The 2010 Landcruiser shipped first with Safety Connect. The 2010 4 Runner will be third vehicle with safety connect.

That price is ~$11.58 per month. I don't know what OnStar costs but Toyota's price seems competetive.

I can see no use for "Safety Connect". But as it uses cell, the one month price seems about right. If you were to buy an "emergency cellphone" (pre-pay for use, limited use) it would cost about the same. They've offered these here in Canada for a few years.
