    I think just about everyone here predicted that people will continue to use those numbers.

    Well, when the original number comes from a high profile article on hybrids, and the retraction is in a little footnote buried somewhere in the magazine, it's not surprising that most people only see the first number. I think periodicals should be required to use banner headlines across the front cover to publicize their mistakes:

    NEWS FLASH: LAST MONTH'S CONSUMER REPORTS REPORT FOUND TO HAVE ERRORS THAT CHANGE THE ENTIRE CONCLUSION OF REPORT! JUICY DETAILS INSIDE THIS ISSUE OF CONSUMER REPORTS!

    Also in this issue: Why you should never get your information from just one source, even if that source is Consumer Reports.

    I wrote an email to the General Manager of the station (it wasn't all of ABC, just one station). I did get a reply and now it's gone. Hmmm.
