I am in the process of looking for snow tires and am wondering if it is worth the extra $400 for rims so I don't have to keep changing the tires - one company said with today's machines it does not hurt the tires to keep the rims and just change the tires - if that is not the case, what kind of rims are best and I guess from what I have read the TPMS will not work if I change rims????????thanks for any info

I just bought a used set of Prius rims (no worry about fit/weight) for my snow tires, I wanted to be able to change them over when I wanted to and not have to go to the tire shop. No TPMS sensors, too expensive, I can monitor myself. My tires are Nokian Hakkapeliita RSi's (same size as factory tires-185/65R15-no worry about fit), incredible tread, can't wait to see how they work. I know my fuel economy will decrease, but I sold a 15mpg Ranger winter truck. The new tire/rim combo weighs 30-31 lbs same as the original.

Craig, I would like to talk to you about the upgrades you have done with your Prius. I own a 2009, package 6, and want to add snow tires, engine block heater, and blocked grill. willsundog@yahoo.com
