I was on the fence about getting silver and was drawn to the color because of the practicality of keeping it clean. But in the end I went w/ a different color and that meant having a waiting period that I wouldn't have had w/ the silver. Well, went to my dealer to pick up my car and somewhere in btwn seeing the car and signing paperwork, someone scraped against it. So I ended up leaving the car to get fixed and got a loaner '10 in silver. I thought perhaps this was a sign. A few days of driving I realized silver just wasn't me, not to mention that I kept noticing 65+ year olds driving the silver prius and no one of my age group- what's that about?!? I finally got my car yesterday and couldn't be more happy that I held out for winter gray. It is soooo badass and best of all- so me!!

i have phases about my color, black.

-when its dirty, it looks terrible.
    -Post-washing/waxing, I love it.
-when its hot out, the paint will melt your skin off.
-when its hot out, the inside is a sauna.
-when its not so hot, its my favorite color car
-there are days when i wished i had a blizzard white (the color offset of tinted windows and white looks awesome, but very very common. and very very ricey in my town. ps. i can say that, im asian.)
-there are days when i realize i bought myself a 2010 prius and am just stoked that its not red :)

You own a Prius in the Bay Area. EVERY color is a dime a dozen. It's the 'true' new Beetle around here.

I didn't wait and got a silver one even though I might have been happier with a blue one. I don't regret it most of the time but I do think it looks kind of plain.

Silvers are nice... since keeping them clean is a breeze. I have a black car and I just hate it when it's dirty. But love it when clean

Very similar to my experience. I put in an order for blizzard pearl as my first choice, silver as my second, willing to take whichever came in first. After several weeks, the only thing I could get with nav was Barcelona Red. I was not thrilled at all with red, but I told the dealer I would take it, not knowing what the next allocation would bring. For about a week, I talked myself into liking red, but it was a struggle.

Between the port and the dealership, a binding strap on the transport truck came loose and scratched one of the side panels. After two more weeks, the repairs had been made, the dealer called up to arrange for delivery of the Barcelona Red the next day, but he also mentioned that the new allocation would come in a week, and it would be blizzard pearl with nav.

Torn between a red Prius in the hand and a blizzard pearl Prius in the bush, I passed on the red, prepared to wait another week. The next day, I got a call that the transport truck came early, and I could pick up the white Prius anytime.

Sometimes, things just work out like they are supposed to.

For what it's worth, the Barcelona Red looked much better in person than in the brochure, so it would have been fine, but it's nice to get your first choice.

I'm glad you ended up with a color you like. Otherwise you would be looking at something upsetting - to you - every day.

Of course there is no such thing as a "best" color. It's all a matter of personal taste. In a poll taken in May 2009 in this forum, 110 people (ages unknown) ranked color preferences as follows:

Most Votes: Blue Ribbon Metallic, 27 votes
    2nd: Blizzard Pearl, 23 votes
3rd: Classic Silver Metallic, 19 votes
4th: Barcelona Red Metallic, 15 votes
5th: Winter Gray Metallic, 13 votes
    6th: Black, 7 votes
7th: Sandy Beach Metallic, 6 votes

Color choices have really expanded and improved over the last few years. Some of the older colors were horrible. The worst color I have ever seen was a dull medium brown - often referred to as "s___ brown", a very apt description. Why anyone would choose such a color is beyond me.

Same here. Blue was our first preference too, but I am quite happy with our new silver/light gray :)

PS: Still waiting for the car to get delivered

The silver and blizzard pearl are a dime a dozen but otherwise I've only seen one of each other color and have yet to see the sandy one. I guess it depends where you live in the bay area- it's such a huge span if area.

brown in the "rust belts" hide the rust color the best.

i've had most colors in the past.

too dark and it shows the scratches and dirt

too light and it gets boring to look at over time. white seems to love road tar

i had red before and chose it again because it cleans up "vibrant"

I was looking at a black 08 in South Carolina, but I just could not bring myself to buy a black car to drive in the "South". By chance, I found an 05 Silver just 39 miles away, and there was no looking back. The car is about the mileage, the color isn't so much important to me ;).

You may have Blizzard Pearl advertised as the model colour but in Canada, it's Blue Ribbon Metallic. I went with blue cause I always wanted a blue car and blue is the new green (if you believe the Japanese). Got sick of silver a long time ago. We had a Silverstream Opal 2000 Corolla LE and a Titanium Silver Metallic 2002 Camry XLE. Our 2005 Prius is back to green (Tideland Pearl) just like our first car, a 1997 Corolla DX Plus in Emerald Green Pearl.

Silver has been my long time standard because it can look clean even when fairly dirty.

But just like I decided to be adventerous and go hybrid with the Prius I decided to also go with the most vibrant color. It was a tough choice between blue and red. But I finally decided red was the most vibrant to me (also the most unusual red I've seen). Been waiting more than 4 months now with about a week to go.

Little off topic, but Mazda is making the all-new 3 in a beautiful color named 'Gunmetal Blue Mica'. It's a light Grayish-Blue with lots of sparkle. Note - it is not Celestial Blue Mica, which is bright. I wouldn't buy that.

Toyota, feel free to make the '11 Prius and beyond in Gunmetal Blue Mica like the Mazda3. :D

    I love my silver one.

My previous car was black, and the paint at one point was just plain shot. Looked like utter crap. Silver looking nice even when somewhat dirty was a big plus. Thought about getting the blue or red, which I think both looked sharp, but wasn't sure whether they'd look good in several years, nor was I sure how they'd look dirty. Chose the boring but positive.

Hand washed and waxed the III a few days ago (after owning it for a month) and it certainly was dirty (only on close inspection) and looks shinier now, but it really looked fine beforehand too...

I like silver too, but this is my first Silver. It replaced a car nearly identical to Winter Gray, and after 23 years with it, I wanted something different.

Blizzard is also too close to a previous car, too soon to repeat. Red is the spouse's car color. Black and Sandy Beach don't fit either of us. That didn't leave many choices.
