Stop-Start Technology: 97 Percent Of Americans Ready To Accept It, Survey Says

I think most of you know how surveys go... just like the large % of folks who say they're willing to consider hybrids yet they don't put their money where their mouth is.

Hopefully we do see widespread adoption of it in the US. It makes so little sense for an ICE to uselessly idle when stopped.

I wonder what the rational is for the other 3%. Told only the benefits, they still don't accept it.

I notice that the acceptance rate drops to a measly 1/3 once price enters the picture. This despite the fact that $500 for a 5% increase in efficiency is a money making proposition for everyone who gets less than 60 MPG.

AFAIK though stop/start alone accounts for very little fuel savings; an idling car just doesn't use much gas for most of us.
