I'm curious if anyone has or has looked into installing neons or LED lights under their car. I've had my Gen3 IV for a few months now and would really like to spice it up a bit. I'm looking at these kits...

can't post links but streetglow.com's SGL3MC - LIGHTSTRIKE 3 MILLION COLOR LED UNDERCAR KIT

    and

SGLWWMC -7 COLOR LED WHEEL WELL KIT

I installed the regular neons in my last car but I'm not sure how the battery hookup would work with the prius. Any ideas? would something like this just completely throw off the car with the way the battery drives it? I don't think they draw all that much power.

Maybe it's just me but putting underglow lights on a Prius is kind of like putting a grill on a white rapper from the suburbs.

The prius may have started out to just be great on fuel economy but its much more than that now. If all people cared about was fuel economy the car would be the size (and just as ugly IMHO) of a smart car. The LED headlights that are on the V would be standard on all the other models as they use less power and there wouldn't be any of the other great technology that makes the gen3 so great.

What's next, 22 inch rims? How about another spoiler? Maybe a huge tachometer and fire extinguisher on the A pillar.

I think I am going for the coffee can exhaust tip!

Naa I'm not trying to race it. To me its the same as those cool little things in the car like the spot light on shifter or the blue prius door sills.

Not really, the spot light on shifter and the illuminated prius door sills are elegant and nice touches. The underglow lights are tacky and ghetto.

Some may feel that way but I think that all depends on how they are done. I've seen MANY poor jobs where the bulb itself is visible and everything. If all you see is a nice little glow it can look really good.

I think the illuminated door sills would be sweet, so I think if done well...underglow could also look really cool.

Not saying that I'll do it to my car, but more power to Elmo...make your car your own...nothing wrong with that.

Thanks. I've read a ton of posts and didn't really think this forum was one to bash its own members :-P. hehe its all good. I laughed my ass off when i passed a store not too far away called "Rent-a-Rim". I'm sorry but if you can't afford those $3000 rims for your 2000 car, you prolly shouldn't be renting them :-D

lol.. rent-a-rim. I'd like to rent an alloy please!

It's been done before. There's a Tideland Pearl with blue underbody lighting. Looks quite nice. Carson Toyota sells a kit from Japan (but it is pricey b/c it's LEDs not neon sticks). They're "VIP" lights... so 4 pods of LEDs on each side rather than the typical neon tube of the F&F crowd. It looks classier imo. IT's under the 2004-2009 Prius section at Toyota Parts: Toyota TRD Parts, Replacement Parts and accessories from Carson Toyota
