I just bought my 2008 Prius today. Dealer was not suggesting a sun roof could be added, so what is the story? Some say yes, others say no...It's a basic model with the back up camera, thanks. :cheer2:
Can't comment on sunnier climes like Florida, but in the UK it is not an option on second gen. The third gen does have the Solar roof as an option on the T Spirit, but that is a completely different bit of kit to a sunroof. I have been told that unless a sunroof is factory fitted, don't go for it (applies to any car). An after market roof will in essence mean cutting a hole in the roof which was not intended to be there and however good the installation is, there is always a danger that there might be a poor seal, which will eventually cause a leak. As the Prius is designed to be as aerodynamically as possible there is also the likelihood that a sunroof would have a negative effect on fuel economy. Toyota clearly chose not to include a sunroof for what must be very good reasons on the Prius. They are available on other Toyota models.

Several/many of us have gotten aftermarket sunroofs on our Gen II Prius. I'm not saying that you should get an aftermarket sunroof. I advise that you research the issue and decide for yourself.
