I've been looking into purchase a 8kWh plug-in conversion kit to install myself for around $6k and I live in Houston, Tx. I know we have a 10% federal tax credit. Does that mean I will only qualify for a $600 credit? I know our governor Rick Perry proposed a $5K tax credit (unsure if it's restricted to new PHEVs) but not sure if it failed or hasnt' been decided yet. Does anyone know if I can qualify for more than just the 10% federal tax credit? I really want to be able to install a kit in my Prius but if I can't get more than 10% tax credit somehow then it just doesn't look affordable for me until I graduate.
