I'm a bit disturbed by the positive spin from the above quote. The article fails to mention how far the Prius is outselling the Insight, how far the Insight has fallen short of their goals and seems to have cannibalized HCH sales instead.

My impression was the author was trying to make the Honda effort seem somewhat heroic. Truth be told, I didn't see innovation but just trying to 'polish the musket balls.' It is the same architecture with no 'lessons learned' and unchanged since the first Insight.

Of course you guys realize the HCH still goes for about 25,000.

That might be why the HCH sales are down? When you look at the Insight for 19,800 it kind of makes more sense, especially if salesmen try to push the Insight more. First time hybrid buyers are probably extremely easy to convince considering the HCH is not a purpose built hybrid.
