It will be fun to capture some of the fun and whimsical comments made at the 2010 Prius Unveiling event.

There were cars and there were hostesses. Of course, the group was very technical in nature and focused on the Prii. I didn't overheard it directly, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone would have said: "excuse me, you with the large breasts, could you move out of the picture?"

You apparently did overhear it, but you didn't hear it quite right. I asked her to move into the picture.

One thing that stands out as unique for this group, is that we were invited to disassemble the cars...

    ....and we tried!

and the response, "There were models?" was heard amongst the attendees. An amazing number of people randomly polled did not see the lovely ladies. Most, however, could accurately describe the changes made to the engine configuration.

Tony ruined my game when he whipped out the "Justin-sized" model car and the hostess laughed. <cries>

I heard something about lap dances but I was in my room eating a full rack of ribs and being lonely. bleh

I came in here hoping to find that someone overheard some juicy tidbits like when a plug in would be coming.

Instead, what do I find? A discussion about boobs .... booo

I think some of us (me included) are still in shock from the experience. When we first got to the reveal, I was so focused on the cars and experience and talking to real Toyota people, I didn't notice much of anything else. It was only after about 2 hours that I realized that they had this tremendous food spread and the drinks availavble. I thought the models and the food was brought in at the very end, but MikeS told me that they were there from the begining.

Give us all a few days to get back to normal and we should be able to anwer some questions.

I was able to ask the chief engineer if the PHEV was his next project. He shook his head up and down and said "yes" very firmly. Howerer, there was a langurage barrier and he may have thought that I was asking him something else so no guarantee here.

I forgot to eat at the reveal. I knew there was food, but then I just simply forgot. Between looking at the cars, the models, talking to Toyota staff, and being interviewed on camera, the food table dropped off my radar. By the time we got back to the hotel, drinking dinner sounded like a better idea.

i most fondly remember efusco yelling at DH to get back under the car so he could get a picture.

oh, and DH telling the chief engineer that he loved taking apart his cars. :p (he then proceeded to explain that he is a former hybrid tech!)

Um.... there were no cherries. Move along. :gossip:

Evan shouting at DH to crawl back under was priceless.

I think my reminding Pat that he shouldn't be starting the car inside the building was kinda fun too. That wasn't the only time I heard the engine light up though.

Best part though was when Evan was buying a small group some drinks, that's just about when *everyone else* showed up. Woops!

But it was OUR car - the most awesome Blue Ribbon - that had its own soundtrack on a mixed CD compliments of Doc Willie!
Let me tell you, the sound system was pretty impressive.

I did overhear that someone in Toyota w/ the power to effect change was unhappy w/ the present MFD screen (size/quality) and it could be one of the things they address in a couple of years. He was otherwise happy w/ the content of the car.
