After you get a Tire Pressure Gauge, how do you know it's accurate? And who verifies the gauges at the garages and tire shops are accurate?

I called the Dept of Weights & Measure and they only check Gas Station Pump Volume accuracy and Air Pressure Pump Timing accuracy. They don't check the accuracy of ANY pressure devices.

So if your gauge and the shop's gauges are different, which one is correct?

Good question Ken -- Bottom line is that the "higher quality" gauges are going to be "closer" to true value. I probably have 4-5 of them and the higher quality (= more expensive) ones usually agree with each other, whereas the cheaper ones are not consistent with the others. FWIW - I received a digital readout one as a gift and I really like that one - reads out to 0.5 psi.
