Wow, the Corolla got knocked off? Here in Canada, the Corolla and Civic have pretty much identical mileage. The average is the same but one has better city mileage by 1mpg and the other has better highway mileage by 1mpg. Also, notice how the EPA says 4.0L/100km (60mpg) city, 4.7L/100km (50mpg) highway. Yet Transport Canada gives the Prius a 4.0 / 4.2 L/100km rating much more optimistic than yours. Also, the Japanese 10-15 cycle rates the Prius at 35.5km/L or 83mpg (US). Hmm...
If you look at the specs between the Insight and the Prius, the Prius wins hands-down. For 1 MPG you are comparing a 5-passenger car to a 2-passenger car. Nice.
Notice the range for the Insight. In a full listing the Prius would fall between the manual transmission and automatic transmission Insights.
What gets me abou this list, is that I posted it on another car forum, and you should 'read' all the people there, blasting the hybrids, saying things like they want to guzzle gas, that they want turbocharged cars... Zoink. Hard for me to grasp...
I'm with Tideland Prius, I can not believe the Corolla is not listed. I have one and get right 40 highway with an auto. What's up with that list??? Bob
I'm actually kind of confused how they got the Insight's mileage range. The manual transmission Insight is rated at 60 city 66 highway. The CVT is rated 56 city 57 highway. For the Prius, it looks like they just picked the city mileage instead of the combined mileage of 55 MPG or the highway mileage of 51 MPG. These are all EPA ratings of course... so take them all with a grain of salt of course. The insight is an interesting spunky little car. I wonder how many Honda still makes a year. I was under the impression that they sell less than 1000 of them a year now...
We have #2 and #7. We also have a Civic Del Sol, which would be on the list if it were still in production. (Now we need Honda to bring back the Del Sol as a hybrid! They'd sell like hotcakes and get 70+ mpg with state-of-the-art hybrid components)
