Has anyone heard rumors about when Toyota will bring out a hybrid version of the Avalon? We own a '01, love the car, but it's pushing 200k miles and we'd like to buy another one. My wife is fine with that, as long as it's a hybrid model.

Have you looked at the Camry Hybrid? Its almost as large as the Avalon. The other option would be the new Lexus hybrid if you can afford a $120K car. :)

My GF also has a 2001 Avalon which she really likes. She only has 64k miles, so she will have it for a long time.

Ditto. I think the new Camry Hybrid will be fairly close to the Avalon in size (ok, the Avalon has more rear legroom). You might have a shock when you compare your Avalon's trunk to the TCH's but other than that, take one out for a test drive!

When my GF was shopping for the Avalon, it had the most rear seat legroom of any of the cars we looked at. (We didn't consider limos). Even the new Avalon doesn't seem to have as much as the 2001-2004 version.

I vote for the camry hybrid. The suspension and chassis is a direct hand-me-down from the Lexus ES300 series. (last model) You could say it's a Lexus child. :)

The Avalon was dropped from the Aussie lineup due to poor sales. It was considered an old man's Camry.
There was only a few millimetres between Camry and Avalon on the inside, the V6 engines and floor pan were the same. USA may have a different Avalon.

Actually, I remember seeing your Avalon a few years back. I'm sad to report that your Avalon is actually our 95-00 design (with a few tweaks of course).
