    Brilliant!!!! :D

If everything in this article comes true, the future is going to be "A-okay." :)

The small, lightweight iQ is an excellent vehicle to begin with!

"Now, more than ever, while we are so focused on the pressing issues of the moment, we cannot lose sight of our future," said Irv Miller, TMS Group Vice President --- Smart man. Just because gas prices are down, does not mean that global warming vanished and it does not mean that oil became an unlimited resource. Lower gas prices today will only accelerate the depletion of oil; resulting in an even quicker price increase in the future.

I am glad to see that Toyota has a hope/vision of making the Prius powertrain design their "core" powertrain design across all Toyota vehicles.

honestly, i am more looking after "10 new hybrids".... that means that every new toyota in next few years, will get an hybrid model.

The video isn't loading for me. Is the video working for the rest of you?

    .

    .

update: it works now. everyone was probably trying to watch the video all at once.
unusual video; it could easily have been rolling down the street in neutral. they should show some stop-and-go's at stop signs.
  5. spwolf
yeah, its the car in the motion, and brief show of interior (3+1 like real iQ)...
  6. Rokeby
    This is good news indeed.

Toyota is making an very strong statement. It is not only looking to the future,
it is actively working to define what the future will be...

Unlike GM and Chrysler who seem to be struggling to mystically divine the
future by looking in their corporate rear view mirrors.

i think what Toyota did in face of bad market conditions shows how serious they are - instead of dropping hybrids and ev's, they actually accelerated their development.

so much for hybrids losing them money :)
  8. priusuk2008
GM and company must be hoping that Toyota make millions of them and go out of business because of the $5k per vehicle they lose on them according to dumb reports. This is good from Toyota, put your money where your mouth is... and they have.
  9. usbseawolf2000
Wow, they have the concept running already.

In the video, at 2:17 it shows the "gear" selector. Why is there B? Why does EV has engine compression braking?
  10. bruceha_2000
Why is it that Toyota SMARTLY put the gauges at the windshield line in the Prius but continues to STUPIDLY hide them behind the steering wheel on every other car they make, even new concepts???
  11. Tideland Prius
It's probably an EPA mandate that cars must have some sort of engine braking in case of brake failure (e.g. coming down a long downhill stretch)

We were the ones who believed early on, and some others, very early.

Congratulations fellow Prius, HEV, PHEV, BEV, etc... owners!

I'll start celebrating when a Toyota EV goes on sale in my local dealership. Until then it is just another concept at an auto show.
  14. cycledrum
heard that. Was at the San Jose auto show today ... Chevrolet proudly diplaying the all-new Camaro SS. I believe it has a 6.x liter V-8, rear seats an afterthought. Fairly big car too. Looks tough. Same 'ol schtick from GM.
  15. Rybold
I'm waiting for Chevy to release the
Camaro SS EV, 300hp, pure electric. :D (think Tesla)
  16. boulder_bum
Come on, plug-in hybrid minivan! (A father of 2 with a pregnant wife can dream!)
  17. Rybold
Considering the demographic of who buys new minivans, I'd think hybrid minivans would sell like hotcakes. It could be the new "soccer mom" trend that replaces SUVs. I would think minivans would be Toyota's and Honda's next step. Put the Camry hybrid powertrain in a Sienna and it's ready to go.
Factors to consider: weight of Camry versus Sienna.

Well, I've read an article somewhere a while ago and as my memory recalls, vehicles and traffic makes up for only 14% of the total pollutants being put in the air today and it will take centuries to reverse the damage already dealt. That 14% accounts for all vehicles on the planet, not just Toyotas. If we are to save the world, then everyone, politicians and scientists in particular, will have to make some sort of contribution and for us, buying cars like the Prius is a good start.

Oh sh*t, we're doomed! Hey, wife, buy all the oxygen tanks we can afford! The next UFO we see we're jumping onto it.

    Ah the new Chevy Camaro.

    Base model is $23,000 with a 300HP V6 / 6 speed automatic transmission
    Midlevel has a 400 HP V8 / 6 speed automatic
Top of the line has a 6.2L V8 making 422 HP.
According to Chevy the V6 will get 27 mpg highway.

Chevy expects 70% of Camaro to be sold with the V6 / auto combination and the already have pre-orders for 10,000 vehicles. The Camaro is going to be a very successful model for Chevy. Lots of money to be made.

Is the Camaro any worse that these?
    Camry V6 ----------------------- 19/23/28
    Accord Coupe V6 --------------- 19/22/28
    Nissan Altima Coupe V6 ------- 19/22/26
    Lexus IS350 -------------------- 18/20/25
    Maxda RX-8 -------------------- 16/19/23
    Honda S2000 I4 ---------------- 18/21/25
    Honda Civic SI I4 --------------- 21/24/29
Oh wait, the Camaro is bad because Chevy makes it. Toyota gets a pass on the rest of their vehicles because they make the Prius.
