My 03 Prius had gone over 120k miles when my letter came in. <grumble>

Regardless, one fix is to keep the throttle valve area clean. That fixed my problem a couple of years ago.

Or, if your car is not covered by this extended warranty and cleaning the throttle body / replacing the iridium spark plugs does not help, then you can buy the current revision engine ECU (with part number suffix 47054) from a salvage yard for ~$300 and replace it yourself.

Thanks, my car just showed P3190 & P3101. The dealership cleared the check engine light but I haven't driven it since. Is it ok to drive the car? I am hearing and reading different opinions about what I should do. Does anyone have any further information on this? I have a 2001 Prius with just under 120k miles.

The latest Toyota TSB on this subject suggests that the throttle body interior and throttle plate should be cleaned. That TSB is posted in this forum.

If the iridium spark plugs are older than 60K miles then they also should be replaced.
