Tbh I wasn't planning on getting it since I found a 5/100 warrantee from some of the sites on here to run about $1500 but when we were at the dealer last week picking up the car they offered it to us for $1100 and $600 for the gap insurance so we decided to go with it.

Did you buy the 5yr/100 or a longer warranty?

i have few more day to choose whether or not I should keep it, but not sure if I should. The dealer was saying that the car will have issues in the future, and this warranty will save you tons. he was quoting me out of warranty costs to repair certain parts which would cost more than my bmw. really the case?

There is quite an ongoing debate about extended warranties: 1) Yes or No 2) Toyota or aftermarket 3)Local Dealer or Out of State Dealer.

    1) Statistics say don't buy but others have stories where it saved them.
    2) Most would agree the extra cost of a Toyota warranty is better than an aftermarket if you have one at all. Easier acceptance when you need it and more comprehensive coverage.
    3) Out of State Toyota Dealers are almost always cheaper although there is some debate about doing so in places like Florida. You will find dealers in Kansas and in Massachusetts that sell Toyota warranties over the phone.

Bottom line: Search this forum and other Toyota forums for "Extended Warranty" and decide for yourself.

Would you expect the person trying to sell you something to say anything but?

Nothing is a guarantee, the car may have problems it may not. It is a decision you have to weigh out all the options on and make for yourself.

I look at it this way. It is all a gamble especially with all of the Hybrid parts. If even one thing happens that causes me to use this in 5 years I will most likely have saved money

Toyota and Dealers offer the plan because it makes them money. The upside is that you get peace of mind. The same is true for any insurance or warranty of any kind. If your financial situation is such that you can't easily handle the consequences, buy it. Although logic would permit that if that is the case, maybe a used car would be more affordable.

Bottom Line...Just like slots at a casino...If they lost money on it, they wouldn't offer it.

    Hi,

I concur with 12PriusV5. I bought one......have a 2007 45,000 miles and the Prius has not been in the shop except for recall. I have been able to do all the maintenance myself and if anyone has mechanical skill than I...well.....
