So Prius is #2 in the global sales list after Corolla and Toyota has already claimed the #1 Automaker spot for the first quarter of 2012?

I have trouble believing his assertion that Prius went from 42nd place in 2011 to 2nd in 2012. He believes that Prius units sold in 2011 were 367,000 and 242,000 for Q1 2012 alone, and that's also fishy, because it would represent an enormous production leap for Toyota.

I'd like to see where he gets these numbers, or see an independent confirmation.

Now that I looked at Toyota's numbers, it's possible. Cumulative Prius sales were 2 million in September 2010, which is 2.8 million now. If we split that by six, it's 477,000 vehicles per quarter, or more if you account for the earthquake shutdown.
