The $5,000 tax credit GM has been lobbying for passed the house. Seems I missed it over a week ago, because it was buried in an offshore drilling bill.

Now I see why Lutz doesn't mind jacking up the fictional Volt's price from the $20K range, to the $30K range, and now into the $40K range . . . because all along he intended YOU to pay for it (the tax payer), whether you can afford one or not. The irony is, that there is no wording to keep Mitsubishi's 2010 pure EV from being eligible, because I see no wording requiring an ICE at all.
Think of it ... the sheer beauty ... GM pays their last buck to pay off their lobbyists before going bankrupt. The $5,000 tax credits in place, only end up going to Mitsubishi customers. Their pure EV scheduled for 2010 gets all the tax credits, because no one in their right mind would buy unreliable GM plug-in first article crap, even if they do manage to bring a few of them to market. Wow.
Uncle Sam will give you $5,000 if you buy a Volt
