Figured I'd post a few of the upcoming hybrids from Toyota. All information is available at http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/future/ The FTX concept truck provides a hint to the direction in size and styling of future Toyota full-size pickups. The FTX was developed to raise the idea of functionality to a new level by including a surprising array of sensible features aimed at both work and play. The FTX offers ample proportions and has the interior room of a double cab, yet opens 90 degrees with suicide doors. Stylistically, the FTX features a huge sculptural power-ball that emanates from the rear wheels and visually pushes the truck forward. The generous use of sculpture in the body gives a rich high-quality feel that elevates the FTX beyond a mere work truck. The style and brawniness of the FTX is complemented with a powerplant that is more than capable of hauling a heavy-duty pickup. Under the hood, the FTX is powered by a large-displacement V8 hybrid gas-electric engine that pumps out loads of torque while delivering V6 fuel efficiency. The rumored replacement for the MR2 Spyder The CS&S is a 4-wheel-drive mid-engine 2+2 sports car. Employing Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive,® an electric motor drives the front wheels, while a gas engine and electric motor in combination drive the rear. CS&S also unveils "Toyota Space Touch," where the driver selects functions by "touching" holographic projections. What? No key fob port? I see a regular key and ignition, and no start button. So even the Lexus luxury hybrid won't have this Smart Start feature we have in our 2004 Priuses?
Guess not. I also recall seeing a standard sort of ignition on the steering column in a picture of the Highlander Hybrid.
