It went dead for no good reason. Enough gas, good oil and coolant.
It is in dealer now. What can we expect tomorrow?
    Thanks!

Which car is this a G2 or the 2010 in your signature? Picture is a G2.

The Hybrid DTC is the red car on the mfd which is either the Inverter Coolant pump failed and or it ran out of coolant or the Hybrid battery has failed. Failed Hybrid battery is rare on a G3.

Is this a salvage title car? How many miles?

Very likely a failed inverter coolant pump. This can be checked by turning the car on and checking for turbulence or flow in the inverter coolant reservoir. another check is that the car will run fine in 15 minutes or so

    It's my friend's car, 2005.
Car can turn on(dashboard), but can't run.
    All recalls are done.

Best to wait for the dealer's word. It could be anything that failed. My guess would be transaxle

I find it *so* helpful to have a way to read DTCs.
Twice now the alarms have lit up in my cars because the fuel cap was not adequately closed. Trivial fix, but only because I could read the code, fix the problem, clear the code, and be done.

    142K miles.
Fuel cap closed, and drove 60 miles before it went dead.
Car can turn on dashboard, power window, wiper etc.
Let's wait for Toyota dealer diagnose at the cost of $110 now.

Sorry, I was not suggesting your problem is the fuel cap. The fuel cap story was only meant to show an example of how useful a DTC reader can be.

Good luck! Please let us know how things go.

The car will still drive if the inverter pump fails. I drove mine to the dealer. It was an 80 mile drive in the summer heat. And this was 100k ago. BUT I DON'T RECOMMEND IT. Peace.

Dealer said yesterday, that it is likely the Planetary Gear (power splitting device?) failed but they said will look into details today to make sure.

Here is the quote from dealer: $5078.62 for replacing transaxle. Advice?

    > 04 TOYOTA PRIUS needs transaxle.
    >
    > Toyota transaxle
    > labor of 1235.00 parts of 3583.79
    > total 4818.79 + tax
    > tax should be about 259.83
    > 5078.62

If the car is still in good condition, you can try and find a salvage part to put in. Used transaxles are about $500-$600 (less if you're lucky). But remember there's also the traction battery, that can fail soon to the tune of another 4 digit repair.
