For August & later production cars, are the USB Interface and Safety Connect features standard on Model V's with Navigation? Or do they have to be ordered in addition to Nav? Are they a package or can they be separately ordered? When will cars with these 2 new features start arriving at dealers in Arizona? Thanks!

They are bundled with the nav and cannot be ordered separately. They will be standard on all August (and later) production cars.

At the end of June, I put a deposit on a Blizzard Pearl IV w/nav. Dealer indicated the production date was in August. Yesterday, he called and said everything was on track for the car to be in port in Hawaii in mid September.

I verified if USB and Safety Connect will be available and was told USB has not been released by the manufacturer and Safety Connect will not be available in Hawaii.

Not sure if this is limited to Toyota Hawaii?

I'm wondering when the cars with USB/Safety Connect will start showing up on dealers' lots. I'm planning on putting down a deposit within the next week or two, but I want to make sure I get one with the USB port. Most of my music listening is done through my iPod! I realize I could have the dealer install it, but I'd prefer if it came pre-installed so I don't have to hassle with it.

I looked at Dianne's list for all of her cars coming in in the dealers section. All the III's w/NAV have the USB and the IV's w/NAV have safety connect and USB.

Will it be the same case for IV's with SR?

I just got a call that my IV w/SR is on the ship and the price he gave me with the list of options would said that it has USB and Safe Connect. Should be here later this month.

Just as an update, I picked up my V on Thursday 9-4 in Arizona. It has the Nav with the Safety Connect and the USB Interface. Although I have not yet connected anything to the USB Interface, the Sat radio works fine!

I bought a IV w/solar this weekend that had the USB and SC on it. Just drove past the Toyota dealer on Sunday and there it sat, staring at me, saying, "take me home!" And so I obliged. :)

Glad to hear about your new wheels! Good to hear that Sat works fine, beings some people have complained about it.

I placed an order for a Grey IV w/Solar Roof on Aug 7th, here in the Greater New Orleans Metro area. I called my salesman sometime last week and he told me that it was still "on order". Soooo, I'm thinking that my Prius should come with the USB/iPod unit already installed.

When did you place your order for the car? Was it a long wait? This waiting/anticipation stuff is hard to deal with! lol!

I bought a IV w/solar today. If mine has a usb port where would it be. I thought it was supposed to be in the glove box, but I can't see anything. If I don't have one can the dealer install one?
    Thanks.

I think it is int he arm rest. I am not 100% sure but when I went to test drive a car the other day he showed me where the aux jack was so I am going to assume it's in the same area since most of the pictures of the prius show the iPod either laying the the arm rest area or in that small area to your right(cup holder looking area).

If you go to the accessories on the Toyota website, you can order an Ipod interface kit. It says it connects to the USB port in the glove box. That way the Ipod is hidden. The Ipod interface kit lets you control it from the steering wheel, I think. I couldn't find anything but the regular input jack in the center arm rest.

The USB from the factory is in the center console inside the arm rest area. Also I cant verify it for sure but my dealer told my IV with Solar Roof might still come without safety connect, because only 25% ar being produced that way.

I haven't heard this anywhere else so who knows. I have noticed though that the Toyota web site still does not show it in the build your own pricing page.

Some people are getting orders pretty quick. Seems that the solar roof extends the wait time. Check out the order tracker and you can see the time between orders and delivery for those that have entered it. Toyota Prius Order Tracker | PriusChat

Hopefully it won't be a long wait!

FWIW, a couple of the complaints I remember reading about the USB kits have not turned out to be the case on my pre-installed interface. That would be:

    a) You can't play with the interface on the nav while driving. (I can and do. Shame on me.)
    b) The track begins at the beginning when you turn the car back on. (It starts where it left off on mine.)
