so how much UV does it block? I've read on a few tinting threads where owners opted to install an anti-UV film on their windshield. just curious is all.

Haha i remember this from physics. Standard Glass blocks a lot of UV. Remember UV is a different wavelength from visible light, and although glass might be transparent to visible light, it is not transparent to UV. The UV radiation responsible for sunburning and cancer ( UV-B ) is blocked by glass. Not only is there glass, don't forget auto glass has a layer of plastic (thats why auto glass doesn't shatter, it just cracks), so the plastic will pick up any straggling radiation.

    Does glass block UV light?

This has been discussed here before, and somebody posted the UV blocking for all the 2010 Prius glass. Try a search.

This came from another user on here somewhere, don't remember who, fortunately I made a copy.

Like Colonel Ronson stated above, auto glass blocks most shortwave length UV (UVB and UVC) but does transmit some UVA. UVA can still be dangerous to human health (indirect DNA damage) as well as cause premature damage to collagen.

I believe I posted that from the NCF. It is the most telling of the glass performance, but for many, tinting improves performance where possible.

I guess the fact that Toyota listed is as one of the car's feature got me wondering. I got the car tinted just a couple of days ago but it doesn't seem to make any difference when I'm driving east in the morning or west in the evening. :)

    I also had posted it.

Thank you all for the replies. The glass data that several posted is helpful to know there is some logic behind the difference.

What is UV cut rate? UVA coming in side window main cancer concern...is this #A&B combined? Anyone know?

not true! UVB largely blocked by regular glass, UVA -not so much. UVA causes cancer too. Do Your Car's Windows Protect You from UV Rays? - The News Wheel
