    Other Non-Hybrid
For the past year, I've been going to the bookstores and looking at the magazine rack and seeing over and over that NONE of the car magazines featured a hybrid nor an alternative fuel vehicle on the front cover.

And now, this just arrived in my mailbox!!! :welcome::cheer2::peace::D :thumb:

Wake me when they feature an actual mass-produced car.

It's a Chevy. It's not even a REAL Chevy. *sigh*

I saw a Consumer Guide car buying magazine with a Prius as largest photo on the cover.

I disagreed with their ratings though - they did not recommend the Prius, yet recommended the Chevy Avalanche in all its 16 MPG glory.

You're missing my point! This thread is not about the Volt ! This thread is about the fact that at least one of the major automobile magazines has FINALLY put a gas-saving vehicle on the cover! When gasoline was at $4.50/gallon, NONE of the magazines put a hybrid on the cover. Instead, all the magazines featured V8 Corvettes, Mustangs and Chargers. And now, FINALLY, they have put a gas-saving vehicle on the front cover.

I know your point because I have waited four years for the same thing. Ever since the first time I drove a Prius in 2004 I knew I had to get the word out about hybrids and wanted every major magazine to feature the concept and application. Trust me, I really do get the point.

But to me, putting the still-not-mass-produced-but-hyped-beyond-saturation Volt on the cover is akin to a magazine putting a major political figure on their cover only it's Joe the Plumber.

    I definitely agree.
Hopefully, in the future, when the new Insight comes out, it will make it to the covers, and then when the next Prius comes out, it will make it to the covers. Hopefully, they won't end up backseated to some supercharged V8. Yes, we love the existence of the supercharged V8s, but there is EQUAL interest in hybrids also. It used to be that the magazines shunned the turbocharged "four bangers," but then as time went on, the major magazines started featuring those cars more and more. They still aren't the same as an actual Corvette or Viper, but they are now receiving equal coverage in the major magazines. It is my hope that eventually hybrids and EVs will receive an equal share of that pie.
