    Hi,
I'm in the UK and looking at the T-Spirit Gen III Prius. The biggest issue that concerns me is the lockout of nav and phone facilities whilst moving - and I understand Toyota's reasons for this.
My question is, is any aspect of the voice control of these systems locked out whilst moving - i.e. as long as you know the number or name of the person you are dialling, or as long as your nav waypoint is in the sat-nav, do you have full control over the phone/nav facilities that are locked out from screen access? (Other than entering a previously unstored address or postcode)
    Thanks in advance,
    Pete

I haven't spent a lot of time with the nav system so can't comment on that, but here's what you can do with phone voice commands while the car is moving:
--dial by number (assuming you remember it)
--dial by name (assuming you previously set up a voice tag for the number)

Also, you can set up speed dials for a limited number of contacts, and access the speed dials on the nav screen even while the car is moving.

The other way to dial while the car is moving is to press the unhook button on the steering wheel twice, which displays your most recent calls (incoming, outgoing), and you can select one on the screen to dial.

Dial by name actually works with any name that you have in your address book, no need for voice tags

Yea - Reading the manual I never saw this, but having been using it since day 1 it does a pretty good job of finding any name in your address book.

Maybe this is because I live in the Netherlands, but my nav does not lock out *at all* during driving. Every option is fully available.
When I picked it up I even asked the dealer (after hearing all the stories here about locked navs while driving) if it was possibile to have the lock removed, to which he responded with: "What lock?" :)

Interesting--the owner's manual says you need to manually add voice tags to be able to dial by name--glad I didn't waste too much time adding them.

I suppose the Netherlands isn't as litigious a society as the U.S. ;)

With this info it seems like the lockout would be a software lock in the US...I hope someone can find it and a fix that way for it.
