The increase in speed is a welcome improvement, but the layout makes very poor use of white space and makes the forum more difficult to read in aggregate.
Perhaps I'm just missing it, but on the old forums, there was a little orange block next to each topic that would take you to the most recent unread post in that thread. Is there a similar function now? It's always been a favorite of mine. Thanks for all the work you've done over the weekend (and beyond) ETA: Nevermind, found the Jump To First Unread button inside the thread!
Sorry, but this new format seems to be a big step backwards. Looks like I'll be visiting and participating a lot less.
Liked the way new post's were first and this new format list's old post's first, there was an adjustment in the members preferences, can't find one yet, know it'll show , just sayin...
I miss having "package" as part of the poster info in the sidebar of a message. It was really helpful sometimes to know if someone had, for example, a 2012 Prius 4 vs. a 2012 Prius 4 with the Solar Roof package.
Congrats! I have so dreaded upgrading my forum that I've put it off for a couple years now. Interested to see how it goes for PC.
When editing a post if you forget to fill in the "Reason" box you get an error popup box. No way to go back and fix it without losing what you just edited. Always select and copy your post so you don't lose it if there is an internet problem submitting it. Improved viewing on my 10.1 netbook so far.
Look at the bottom of a forum thread page, in the center, in very pale blue, "Thread Display Options" Edit: The option I mention will sort the threads titles in the desired date order (like most recent at the top), but the actual posts in the thread are oldest at the top, newest at the bottom, which is the usual way.
Some questions: 1. Used to be link noting "New Posts since you logged in" that would do a search and show all the new posts listed. Is that on the new site? 2. "Statistics" on ones personal page would show all our posts so we could check on conversations we were participating in? Is that on new site? 3. I notice the message are still flat, one after another in time posted order, vs. threaded by comments and replies. Does the new software allow for threaded messages with the nested replies? Can it be turned on or off? Curious what prompted the move from vBulletin to Xenforo?
On vBulletin, an email notification of new posts to a subscribed thread would include the text of the actual post so that one could easily see what was posted. The new email notifications only provide a link to the forum, forcing a click and browser start. Anyway to configure to get the text of the new posting in the email?
Site is definitely much faster. Always a good thing. Sad that I can no longer use my rectangular "Warning - I Drive Like You" avatar . Guess I'll just use 'HAL' for now... I'll need to spend some more time poking around to check out any new features or changes to the old ones. All in all - Nice Job, Danny!
The new main screen froze for about 20 - 30 secs. Then all seemed right. GOOD JOB folks. Thank you DBCassidy
Ok... One piece of feedback that I gave in the beta area (sorry, had to leak it over here.. ) was that I didn't like the format of the comments/threads in the news area. I wasn't able to say why, other than it was different. I did notice one significant thing. There's no way to see information about the OP or any of the people who reply in the news areas (e.g. message count, likes received, location, car, etc...)
Still exploring my new 2012 Prius 4. Can anyone tell me about the monitor when you turn off the car? it gives the consumption & the savings. what is that? In dollars & cents per mile? i don't understand it. Thanks, Pat
