Subject says it all. I'm in my car all the time and need a solution for it's lack of a garbage can / ash tray. In my '05 I used the little storage compartment in the center of the dash. I can't find anything that I think would work.

Had the same problem with my 2010 liftback, no good place for a garbage can.
My fix was a plastic bucket about 8 inch diameter and 10 inches high. Put a 2 inch square of self adhesive velcro on the underside of the bucket to anchor it to the carpet in the center or the rear seat floor, just behind the console.
A plastic grocery store bag is a good fit inside the bucket. Fold the excess over the outside of the bucket. When the bag gets full, remove it from the bucket and dispose or empty it and reuse. Never have to disturb the velcro anchored bucket, and it never moves while driving. I leave a couple extra bags folded in the bottom of the bucket.

Great idea. I'll have to look into that. I saw a bag type thing on Amazon that looked about the same.

I just use the side pocket on the door. I put a piece of tight styrofoam into that pocket to keep my water bottle from tipping over. Then the rest of the pocket is for garbage.

I got this car trashcan from Target and attached by making some hooks out of insulated wire. It hangs on the edge of the center console on the passenger's side. I'd probably want to move it for a long road trip with a passenger but for normal rides it's not bad. trashcan.jpg

Yep. That's what I've been doing but getting sick of it. Don't buy gas enough to keep it clean.

I use the area between the USB plug and the pull out drink holder. Drive thru straw wrappers and such. Generally I clean the car out after only a couple days. Most stuff gets tossed into the drive thru bags and tossed at the next available trash container found at the front of any major store.

I use a large plastic cup in the top or bottom cup holder --it is easy to empty or throw away-

I use a large plastic cup in the cup holder or that "holder" place on top of the front console. It is easy to empty or throw away. It can be moved to one of the "behind the console" holders if you need to use the front ones.

OMG - looking at this picture, I realized there's another cupholder down there! I had to check my car to make sure I had one! LOL!

I have had for long time a bag with velcro adjust straps, it fits around the passenger headrest & hangs on the back.
It has 4 snaps inside to keep plastic trash bags open for dropping garbage in. Sorry I forgot where I found it.
It also has a zipper compatmrnt on bottom for extra bags. very handy! here the link on a very quick web search

The solution I have settled on is using a small, pop-up type container. It is approx. 6.5" in diameter and 8" tall, with a small elastic band at the top. A typical plastic grocery bag fits in it just fine. I put it on the backseat floor - ugh, how sad it is to see the salt and gravel in this picture of my brand new car!
    IMG_1048.jpg

It is held in place by the elastic band which I wrap around the fold-down "door" of the cup-holder, as well as a piece of velcro on the bottom of the trash container (included with the container) that somewhat sticks to the floor mat.
    IMG_1049.jpg

Although the container doesn't hold alot, it's big enough to handle the daily trash from 5 people on a road trip - and it's small size means it doesn't interfere with the occasional third passenger in back, plus you can still use the cupholders.
    IMG_1051.jpg

I'm not quite sure where I got it but it looks exactly like one at Amazon called the "Hopkins TRASH-BLA Pop Up Trash Can." With apologies, I am unable to post any links yet because I am a newbie to the forum!

Starbucks bag on the floor works great.

This is a perfect fit behind the center console and between the seats, doesn't move at all.
