i have actually listened to nearly half of it already... very nice. actually very impressed if this is not edited and it all seems very casual and straight forward.

just wondering if on future podcasts you will be getting any of the Prius Team "on mike" for a statement on upcoming events, what the design or engineering team is looking at, etc.

    Very nice! Keep them coming.

Just the motivation I needed to get iTunes' free reader downloaded and find several podcasts of interest. Another dinosaur getting his 21st century groove.

I'm very glad you're avoiding the same "itunes-only" mistake
that Toyota made with the nav videos. A direct .mp4 link can
either be downloaded for later or streamed straight to most
players, and is much more useful. I've *got* a mac and I won't
go near the "itunes store" with a 25-foot cat5 cable, so it's
    not just platform, it's principles.
    .
I'd agree with others about managing a "too much at once" rushed
feeling stemming from having a huge pile of material in reserve.
Remember that the novelty of the Prius had diminished over time,
even with the advent of the third-gen, so there's plenty of time
to catch up and not lose interest and momentum.
    .
The download size is actually unexpectedly small because of so
much mostly-static video. Expect it to rapidly increase if you
start doing more live motion stuff...
    .
Is "traffic dynamics" on the upcoming topic list perchance???

I can't listen to somebody talking and read at the same time, one or the other will get ignored. Generally the reading, since it's not as loud. Background music is acceptable, but white noise is better. When we have the noisy co-worker talking at the next cube, I put on the headphones and listen to waves crashing, and that's as far as I can go. I can't imagine working and paying attention to what somebody is saying - I stop typing when I get a phone call for instance.

I grew up pre-internet, Dad always told us to turn off the TV when nobody was watching it, we rarely even had the radio on in the car when driving. That might have something to do with it.

I don't know how involved your web design is, but I assume it involves more thinking than just moving things around with a cursor until it looks good (that is, can't do it on auto-pilot). I could probably edit photos and listen to something, since that is purely visual and doesn't involve a lot of logic skills. (My web page work, such as it is, involves writing HTML directly, with a bit of ASP and possibly .js)

But that's a side topic. I haven't listened to the podcast, and probably won't. I just don't have 1.5 hours in a day to spend on that, it would take 6 days of commuting for my car time to add up to that much, and that would fragment it too much.

All great tips. I recommend listening to some professional podcasts, like Leo Laporte's TWiT network (www.twit.tv). He has decades of experience in the radio business, so he's got it down perfect.

Edit: Also, try using an outliner program. That way everyone knows what's the next topic, and when a conversation plays out, you can just say," Ok so up next..."

We're recording episode #2 tonight. Any questions or topic suggestions for us to cover? We have our own list of topics but I thought some input from the community might be useful.

Soylent, I'll have a feed for you this week.

    Thanks :)

I'd like to see a topic: Doesn't have to be the next show, but I'm interested about aging Priuses. I just hit 100K on my 2006, and I'm wondering what do people experience post 100K (like reliability, driveability, and at what point do people replace it.)

Sounds like a good topic for when efusco joins us on a future podcast (maybe next week?).

I think this will be too late to mention, but a nice member (me) of priuschat put up a bittorrent of the 2010 U91D (R9.1) Navigation DVD, if any "early adopter" members still have the factory shipped R8.1 that came in the 2010's before 9.1 was released.

There is a thread on the subject. with a link, and it has seeded to at least 3 or 4 computers now, so it should be available.
