I ordered a cargo net from PC store and just checked the cargo area. Where does it attach? I don't see any hooks.

I think you just unscrew the screw holding the tonneau cover hook, slip the new hook over the top of the existing hook, and rescrew. Can someone confirm? Danny should confirm the hooks come with the net, and say something about this in the store description.

Judging from the feedback I got from my "Perfect Storm of Doubt" thread, I was under the impression the issue with the cargo net had been resolved. Resolved from Toyota's end. I don't think any owner should have to be doing any retro-fitting of anything. Isn't that what dealerships are for? Reading through the whole 2010 Cargo Net Issues and Resolution thread it sounded to me like new Prius coming off the line now have the hooks in place and working.

How "old" is your "new" Prius? The earliest post I see of "resolution" from a new owner is August and that was post #78 seeming to suggest the new hooks were in place from the factory. In anycase, if you want a cargo net, it should be something you can have. Ridiculous to have people cancelling Cargo Net orders because they can't find the hooks or don't want to do any retrofitting.

I picked up my Prius @ December 20th. The car was on the lot for about 7-10 days.

I'd just like clarification from owners, I know not everyone is even installing cargo nets, but I was under the impression that the whole "hook" issue was over and done with. Really the dealership should help for free...IMO owners shouldn't have to be doing retro-fits of any parts on their own vehicles...unless they want to.

If you really want a cargo net, I'd get one, then just tell Toyota to install it correctly whatever it takes. It's suppose to be an accessory that is available and useable.

Even if for some fluke reason you are missing your hooks, a authorized dealership service center should help.

I don't think you can just "tell Toyota" to install parts which you have bought elsewhere, even if they are official Toyota parts. If you bought them from them with an installed price, I bet you would have paid a little bit more than buying them from a parts source.

You can ask them how much they charge to install this part and if you accept their price, fine.

You are obviously a very demanding person. Does this attitude work for you?

    Well said.

And if he'd bothered to read the post linked above, he'd know it's not an issue.

Gentlemen, If I could interrupt the character assasination?

I have read, even posted within the above mentioned thread. Within that thread, specifically post #78 by bps...you can look it up...it sounds like a fix was being applied by Toyota. That newer Prius were coming from the factory with new hooks already in place. Most of the rest of the thread are owners with the defective hooks and set up, looking for resolution and the "fix kit".

Was Toyotas ultimate answer to the vertical cargo net problem simply to not offer hooks within the vehicle at all? Leaving it to the owner to purchase and install themselves? I was under the assumption that a resolution moving forward meant new Prius being bought today would already have the proper hooks in place. But I concede assumptions can be dangerous.

As far as my advice to the OP, I wasn't being demanding at all. It's a brand new car, purchased less than a month ago. If the OP's vehicle should have hooks inplace and they are not there, then the dealership should be aiding in getting the proper hardware in the car. If Toyota has simply sidestepped the issue by making the hooks a owner install project....then IMO it's not at all unreasonable for an owner to ask a dealership if they would install the hardware for them. Even if it's a simple project, everyone, the aged, the elderly have different degrees of skill, ability and time. Asking the dealership if they would install hooks for a OEM Toyota vertical cargo net is IMO not demanding. Sure the dealership could come back and say, there is a charge....then it's up to the OP or whomever, to decide, but there is no harm in asking. If it's as easy as removing one set of hooks and replacing with a new set of hooks, then I'm guessing most dealership service departments would do it as a act of good will. The OP was at the point of cancelling an order for a cargo net, which I again assume he wouldn't of ordered if he didn't want one, so my advice was simply if you want one, get it, and if you need help, go to the dealership service department..

Yeh, I'm a mad man of unreasonable demands! How dare I assume a service department might be willing or even want to help a new owner with the "evidently simple" installation of a Toyota accessory.

I did e-mail PC store yesterday to cancel. I have not heard anything, so I assume that I will be getting the cargo net.

As a bystander, I think there was just a misunderstanding about your assumptions. There's still some confusion as to whether the hooks for the vertical net come on every car, or just on cars that have the vertical net port installed. The latter seems more likely, but I could be wrong. Also, as someone else pointed out, when you get parts quotes from dealers, there's usually a difference between just parts and an installed price (for example, the remote start, which apparently takes a couple of hours labor). There's obviously not much labor for this particular part. Although it seems likely, it'd be nice if someone could confirm the hooks come with the kit (which would obviously be necessary, if my assumptions are correct).

    I am bummed out now.
I e-mailed immediately after placing the order to cancel and today I get an e-mail saying that my order was sent to the supplier.
Is there a live person at the PC store?

I don't think this is good business practice. They should be able to cancel your order. I would e-mail them back, requesting to cancel the order.

I have e-mailed them twice. I finally received an e-mail saying they will contact the supplier and see if they can still cancel.
By being soooooo slow in replying, it may be too late to cancel.
I have not heard back from PC store, so who knows???

I have my doubts about using the PC store again.

Did you ever get the net, Green Guy?

I have a 2010 I purchased 1/4/2010. It does not have the hooks installed. I would like to order this net from the PC Store but want to make sure it comes with the hooks that sit in the area where the tonneau cover fits.

My dealership doesn't have them to buy and had no idea when they will get any.

Where can I buy cargo net hooks?

    Hi All,

I just purchased a new Gen III 2010 prius (1st time prius owner, and loving it). My dealer threw in a cargo net for me, but there are no hooks or attachments. I asked the toyota parts center for hooks and they knew nothing about it.

Can anyone refer me to where I can purchase these hooks?

    Thanks!
