I can reproduce this "hang" with one of my machines running XP SP3, and Firefox 3.0.6. Page stays white, at the bottom the status bar "Stopped"

I'm not sure why both my Ubuntu machine and my XP Pro SP3 machines are having the same problems with the White Screen.

I was running Ubuntu 8.10 with FF 3.0.5. The package update I applied today was for gnome, and brought FF to 3.0.6. The only difference is that instead of claiming "stopped" in the status bar, it claims "done" but still a white screen freeze

I think Windstrings would agree -- the problem is cured immediately by installing a BT Tech Stiffening Plate under your motherboard! :focus:

Ok, I'm getting the same problem now....
I post in the QR box, hit "post quick reply" screen turns white and seems to get 'stuck'. If I hit the back button then reload the page my post went up properly.

Only big thing different now than before is that I'd shut down and restarted the laptop I usually use whereas before I'd just sleep/hibernate it when I was done using it. So there may be something to do with the restart and/or caching.

Ok, quick reply should be working again. It was a problem with the "ShareThis" code. I'm going to work on getting that to work, but at least now the Quick Reply works!

FF now has 3.06 out... the release notes vaguely indicate there could be a fix for this type of problem too.
Most of the webpage stuff is not in my league.

Now how does a thing like that get broken? Was it a bug? Presumably there is not a configuration option "Hang On Quick Reply" :_>

FF 3.0.6 was also having the hang, except the status bar displayed "done" instead of "stopped"

I was able to replicate the problem on an XP Pro SP3 machine running FF 3.0.5 and 3.0.6, and my Ubuntu machine running FF 3.0.5 and then FF 3.0.6

Galaxee suggested scripting exceptions, which I tried and worked. It's a bit of a drag to manually edit, so I downloaded NoScript from the Mozilla site. This works very well, but in default setting is too strict

Mine was fixed right after I first mentioned it.. but I only have windows XP service pack 2 while Jay who still had issues was running sp3.

Hopefully its resolved now with sp3 also.
