hey how's it going? yeah i don't get any notifications of posts to my phone. I only check the forum periodically. Are you still looking to swap wheels? let me know.
It kept mine alive for a few more years. I believe the key is to do it before there is an issue. Like changing the oil before it goes bad.
Learning is good! Whether it's good or bad, you'll always learn something. :) There may be nothing wrong with the battery. I used the Prolong reconditioning system. It charges and discharges the hv battery and tries to make it like new.
You have to be careful of the forum. You can get good info. But you have some that don't even have a Prius, and all they do is complain. And some think they know it all! They will always come in and try to correct everyone. There is an "ignore" feature I use a lot. :)
Yes, I see this all the time on stack exchange. I am just here to learn as much as I can. Maybe one day when I am little more learned, I can be of service. But until then, it's nose to the grindstone
90,000 is low. Make sure you change that oil at 5000 miles. You about due for the egr system cleaning. Are you experiencing any issues with the battery? Is it discharging quickly? Charging quickly, or slowly? Sodium ion batteries have been out there for a while. Jack just starting using them. He sent it to me and I installed it myself. It was pretty easy. It's not hard.
I think the battery is working OK? Although I am not sure I would know if it was discharging too quickly. I am trying to get ahead of known problems by planning the maintenance (battery replacement / EGR cleaning). It's my hope that by performing the EGR Clean before symptoms rear their head, I can avoid damage and minimize downtown / mental stress. This is my daily driver and I gave away the Integra
I've replaced the oem hybrid battery with the lithium from Jack. Then he asked me to test the Sodium ion battery. Changing them was easy. And the Sodium ion battery is even better than the lithium.
Interesting. I've inherited a 2010 with 90K miles and developing a plan for the hybrid battery replacement. Sodium Ion seems to be an improvement, however, I am wondering if they have been out there long enough to know expected service life. The original battery has at 15 years, so I am wondering if it is reasonable to expect 15 years from a Sodium Ion battery. Maybe that this is a question for the forum?
I used to work on cars. All makes and models. The Prius was very new to me. But very easy to work on. Toyota's are pretty easy, for the most part. I changed my head gasket at 301,000 miles. 381,000 miles now. It was not any different than any other combustion engine.
I'm in Vero Beach, about 2.5 hours south of you. Been a while since I've been through there on my way to Jacksonville..
What part of Florida are you in? I'm in the central east coast. I'm not an "expert" but I do have experience.
Could you please send me the link for the Gen 5 manuals - I have the 2024 Prime... Tks for all the work to put it together. AltPwr
Ricko the image you shared a while back is labelled incorrectly. The neg cable sits next to the casing not the positive.
If you are still interested, I successfully turned off the TPMS light on my 2012 Prius v. I responded to your old original thread. The wiring block is very small. I used a piece of cat 5 data cable. I jumped pins 5 and 6 at the back of the block. No cutting or splicing is needed. The TPMS system can be restored to OEM just by removing the jumper. Hope this helps you.
