I just recently purchased the Motorala Droid.... close to the same physical configuration as the I-Phone and a tad bigger than many others like the Dare, Htc and other flat "non opening" type phones.

I discovered if if you open the front cup holder compartment there is a nice groove "where the front edge of the lid rest when closed" went that will hold the base of your phone and then you lean your phone back to rest against the inside of the opened lid of the cupholder.

Wish I had a pic... but it looks like it was mounted right into the console!

I have mine pluged in the console and leave my phone on charge resting right there.
I also configure my phone so it doesn't go completely dim when being charged and now I have constant visual access to whats going on with my phone right at my fingertips.

With the use of Pandora internet radio and other cool apps etc.. it almost negates the need for satellite radio as you can just plug your phone into your sound system and as long as you are in a 3G area, you have all the radio, internet, TV features and more!

Forget about "plugging it in" - use Bluetooth audio! Even cooler!

I was wondering if that would work...... I don't think I have that feature... wasn't that one of the features released a little later in the gen III for an extra fee?

You definitely have that feature on the nav side. The question is whether the droid supports the correct bluetooth profile. Have you or can you pair the droid as both a phone and as a bluetooth music device?

Just checked - this motorola tech page says the droid does support ad2p, so pairing the droid as a bluetooth music device should theoretically work.

I've used the Pandora app with bluetooth from my iPhone and it's cool.

But, don't use the front cup holder as an iPhone holder. If you close the cup holder cover by accident, it's a fishing test to get the thing out.

I've never paired for music and don't even have clue how...I'll have to play with it and see what I can figure out.

once mine is paired up, and BT is selected on the radio, it starts the iPhone iPod, then I can switch to the Pandora app, so between my Nano in the console, the iPhone iPod, Pandora, Sat , CD, and regular radio, I should never be without something cool to listen to, since that droning real exhaust note isn't something enjoy.

See Setting Bluetooth Audio, p. 295 of nav manual. On the phone side, it should work the same way as it did for the phone registration, except that you are looking for it to discover "Car Multimedia". For the iphone, people have been changing the nav's bluetooth passwords to be the same for both bluetooth phone and bluetooth audio.

I wasn't successful... went into audio settings and tried to register my phone and it said to put the passcode into the phone but my phone would never respond even though it was in discover mode.
I tried changing the passcode desired but that doesn't seem to be the issue, its not even getting that far.
I also tried to find the car "with the phone being the master" and that wouldn't work either.

My phone links just fine... but not my multimedia

I can Only assume the multimedia portion is not compatible with my Motorola Droid or else I don't have that feature in this car.

I'll have to go look up whats in the back of my mind... I remember there was an option something like that which was not available on the earlier releases of the Gen III... but maybe its something else.
