    Pfft.



    disclaimer: I am aware of the seriousness of the situation but you can't help but see the humor in the fact that they noticed and decided to pull him over for what could have been:

    Hypermiling+avoiding pot holes+watching his scan gauge intently.

    You know how some people have reenactments of U.S. Civil War battles, well this is clearly a reenactment of the June 17, 1994 O.J Simpson police chase in southern California. OJ used a Ford Bronco, this guy used a Toyota Prius because Ford no longer makes the Bronco. The CHP used black & white vehicles just as they did in 1994. And the whole thing was captured by a news helicopter - Just like the real thing way back in 1994.........

    He is just exercising his right for hypermiling on the freeway. He feels he did nothing wrong and ignored the Highway Patrol. :)

    He left early, 5:30 am, so he could get to the shoe store for the big sale on sock-suspenders while still getting a record 100 mpg for the tank. But no, the CHP had to screw it all up. :pout: He missed the sock-suspender sale and the CHP ruined his tank average with an unintended stop.

    Scuttlebutt is that the CHP only attempted to pull him over because they suspected he might be experiencing "unintended deceleration" on the freeway. The absence of a 911 call made this even more likely...so they wanted to check his floormats to avoid a needless tragedy. Neutral won't save you in the case of unintended deceleration, but a long downhill just might.
