If I lived near there, I'd build a car with two front ends, really throw them off.

But why don't you do something completely out of character that you don't normally do instead??? ;)

You are, just keep within the boundaries set by the society you wish to live in and you go below the radar, no one will be worried about your activities.
Why is being watched opressive to you? Do you think there are enough observers of those images captured by the cameras to track everyone's movements? If you are obeying the laws you go below the radar, no one will pay you any mind.
Personally I'd love to live my life without the fear of being the victim of a crime.
When your partner or friend is bashed and the culprit is found because there was CCTV in the area, or more to the point, not bashed because the chance of getting caught because of CCTV, then you might think constant electronic observation is a good thing. Of course you will never know if you were not attacked because the cameras were there.

If you don't want cameras checking your movement then stay out of most retail outlets, gas stations, banks, highways, and busy intersections, in fact almost all controled intersections in metro and city streets. Of course you will get the protection the cameras afford you anyway.

If you think the government might like to cull you off, I guess I see your point. Our government doesn't scare me, because it was elected by Australians, not Americans. Of course if they want to cull the population the government know where the cities are, and your pissy hand guns hidden under your jacket will be useless against a cruise missile.

Google uses software that detects numberplates and faces and blures them out to protect your privacy.
This is my house from Google Earth, you can see my numberplate is blured out.

Your whole picture is kinda blurry, you can almost read the nameplate above the license plate on the motorhome.

Aquire a gun, learn how to use it and carry it -- by the time the camera says you are being assulted and shot you will be dead before the big brother "police" get there to help you --- or not :D

The problem is that, especially in Canada, criminals have rights. They actually have oodles of rights. If you try to defend yourself against a home invasion, you're likely to face charges

Hordes of lawyers will rush to the aide of a criminal here, so penalties are laughably light. We have what is known as the "faint hope" clause, which means even if the criminal is most likely to reoffend, we have to let him go early anyway! If the criminal is a Minor, eg <18 years of age, then the Youth Criminal Justice Act applied

The Liberal government rammed through the YCJA in 2002, it became law in 2003. In essence, once the little bugger turns 18, their record is usually wiped clean. Youths are rarely even incarcerated, so they can get into mischief like this

Perspective: Chill. Thrill. Kill. - Winnipeg Free Press

But, never ever try to defend yourself in this country. Ever. Or, bad things will happen to you

Man set on fire in Wolseley - Winnipeg Free Press

So, back to OT, I see little use of surveillance cameras everywhere. Even "caught in the act" the criminal will just laugh and get off with little to no penalty. The do-gooders will make sure of it

Not sure how the ability to defend yourself against any threat would cause fear --

And when cars are banned, only outlaws cars will back over their kids in their own driveway. Happens a lot more often than gun accidents:

Thousands of children are injured or killed every year in their own driveways when friends or family members accidentally back over them. These fatal child car accidents can devestate a family and the surrounding community.

Here are a few tips on how to avoid these tragic fatal child car accidents, as reported by Injury Board magazine:

    1. Before leaving, walk all the way around your car.

    2. Always know where your kids are, and make them stand in a spot where you can see them as you depart.

    3. Teach your kids never to play in or around a car, regardless if it is running or not.

    4. Never leave children alone in a car.

    Lets just ban everything

Ooh, it's the slippery slope game! Can I play?

OK, let's not ban ANYTHING! Tanks, rocket launchers? Sure! It's for self-defense, y'know. Hell, why not nuclear weapons!

I bet the NRA is really sad Nidal Malik Hasan was prevented by liberal do-gooders from his Constitutional right to own nukes (although they are cheering and high-fiving themselves because he did execute (get it?) his right to bear arms).
