Are your leather seats wrinkled?

Are you saying all 2010 models that have leather seats are port-installed and not factory installed (including our units with Technology Package)?

BTW, I have noticed a slight wrinking at bottom side at the driver's seat already.

 

The only folks I know that feel that way...have tons of wrinkles themselves.

I live in Florida. And no doubt will get more of that "character" over the years. Like my car...

 

I have 11,000 miles and the car is almost 4 months old. I am 5’11 and weight 165lbs. There is no excuse for the seat to be in that bad of shape.

Toyota had to send someone to the dealer to authorize the new set cover. I wish others would post pics of their leather so I could get an idea of what is happening to other seats.

 

Good you escalated the issue and Toyota is working with you.

Perhaps the root cause of your problem: Your "donated cowhide" had Mad Cow disease. Frowning a lot.

Does anyone know where Toyota sources their leather for Our Prii built in Japan? Not from India for sure...

There are other differences. Lumbar support, keyless entry, plasmacluster, heated seats and maybe something else

i have an issue with my leather seat. the front passenger side there are a couple of pimple like dots. will bring it to the dealership tomorrow and there's a big chance they will say it is normal!

 

I have the Oz Itech model. Just going on to 9K kms on the clock.

Very early on we noticed a wear mark on the drivers seat on the backrest bolster on the door side. Possibly from rubbing a pocket button or belt or something as I get in.

By the time I put it in for the recall reflashing it was getting pretty bad and I pointed it out to the service manager and my salesman.

They accepted responsibility and ordered a new leather cover which was installed about 2 months ago when it arrived from Japan.

Done about 2k kms since and the wear patch is back already. Trying to slow the damage by weekly application of leather conditioner but getting pretty worried about 3 or 4 years down the track at trade in time.

How would you fix a wrinkle once it shows up? Will leather conditioner fix it? How about an Iron? I like it smooth but not sure how to keep it that way.

 

It's normal to expect some winkling, especially around the seating area. However, you can reduce excessive winkling and cracking by using a leather conditioner such as Zaino Leather in a Bottle. Dirt and oil are extremely detrimental to leather so be sure to use a cleaner beforehand such as diluted Woolite.

Sure, an iron will work as you'll be left with no leather, hence no winkles

 

I am going today to get my seats done at the dealer. I have a brand new 2010 III and the salesman told me all gets leather, seats, door panels, center console etc. I paid $1400.00 for all, I questioned him and the installer and they told me it's identical to the factory leather(I am skeptical). Again, I am going today and will verify once more to be sure. I am also going to take detailed pictures before the install to make sure every nut, clip, glue, sticker whatever is back to new. If they can't prove to me that it is identical to the factory, I am getting my money back!

I got the Katzkin brand installeld by the dealer and it took two days. I could not believe how nice they look. Very happy with the results.

 

Someone may have replied already, but I have dealer installed leather on a III. Found creasing and fraying stitches on driver seat. Dealer said guaranteed for 3 years. Seat replaced.
So, go back to your dealer.

 

We got the Roadwire's in dk. gray. I am not pleased at all. We switched the seats due to the excessive build-up of body heat in cloth. The roadwire is not leather, and because it is a synthetic leather-like material it will not breath.

I looked at a few of the cut edges of the material. The material has a dark gray surface but the underside is black. Natural or engineered suede backing material is always white to brown in color unless the aniline dye is applied in a drum, in which case, the surface color would bleed entirely through the suede too. Full-aniline dyes are usually only found on high quaility leather hides. The seats are not leather, very very thin, and do not breath.

I would avoid leather at all costs unless it is from the factory, or has visible poors in the skin's surface as does 'real' skin.

"100% leather" just means it contains some form of leather, and suede is considered leather when it has been resurfaced and roll printed.

"100% real wood" is a similarly false claim used by cabinet and furniture compaines. It may be 100% wood, but it is not 100% hardwood. Vaneer and plywood are 100% wood too.
