HELP!! My Nav system does a really weird thing when I get on Interstate 75. The screen changes and says

    "Calculating"

    "Calculating"

    "Calculating"

The buttons are very very slow to respond (10-20 seconds). The radio will not change stations during the button delay, the phone will not work and the CD player will not work. When I get off highway everything works. It is on a stretch of road about 20 miles and my wifes Toyota Sienna nav system works fine there.

    Dealer said "oh well"

Anyone have this issue or know anyone who can help me?

The exact same thing happened to me when I got my Gen3 with solar. Don't fret though, there is an easy fix.

Take it into the dealer and tell them to call Toyota Service department headquarters, which has info on this problem and a fix.

The fix, as I understand it is simply disconnecting the 12V battery and reconnecting it. The dealer should do it for you no charge.

It gets better from here! Good luck!

Disconnect the 12 volt negative cable for about 20-30 minutes, then reconnect. Fixed.

Ah, nice color. Seems to be the rarest of the 2010's I've seen on the road- did you go dark or light on the interior?

    Fliporfly:

Just had experienced this after 3 months with my car as well.
    Ffitzgerald suggested and it worked:

I have not had any more problems and I am using the split screen with the freeway info. There is no delay for recalculating. What seemed to fix it was
    1) Turning off the split screen.
    2) Clearing out any unused Navigation destinations. Also make sure you don't have the Nav turned on and are not following it's instructions.
    3) Turning the split screen back on.

There seems to be a hangup if the Nav is giving a route you are not following and the Freeway screen is trying to continually trying to recalculate.

Once I did his suggestion, it has worked ever since. You can also eject the DVD per the instructions in the manual and try that.

If there is a Fix my dealer hasn't mentioned it so if it happens again, I will ask. But as mentioned, once I did this as the posters comments suggested, no problems yet since..

I just got this problem after 2 years of driving my 2010 Prius IV with Sunroof/Nav/XM Sat radio. All of a sudden the screen would lock up on the freeway in Calculating mode, obviously calculating the distance to the freeway exits.

So I first set a destination as I got on the freeway and the problem went away. Then on the freeway, I deleted the destination and the problem did not return.

After exiting and entering the freeway several times, the problem still did not return. However, it occurred to me that the button which allows you to specify the kinds of screens you want (the one on the lower left side just above the plus sign) will work as you drive on the freeway. Experimenting with that if the destination is not set may jolt the system back into reality without disconnecting the battery and losing all the saved information.

 Something to think about. Love my Prius. I traded my 1994 Jaguar XJ6 during the Cash for Clunker era in 2009. I had 224,000 miles on it and everything was failing. I got $4,500 for it on the trade in. AWESOME!
