Toyota's Bluetooth not 100%

Is the problem the Prius or the phone's implementation? I believe some phones transfer contacts fine and others don't. If you search you will find more details.

BTW, the letstalk.com site does not list all phones that work. It is a commercial site who's purpose for existing is selling phones and plans, so you may want to figure that motive into whatever phones/providers it does list.

 

It's a little more complicated than that, unfortunately. It's up to the phone/device manufacturer to ensure they properly conform to bluetooth standards. It's also up to the device's operating system as well. I went through a few issues with my iPhone and previous cars with bluetooth. However, firmware updates from Apple resolved these issues. I believe some 3rd Gen Prius owners had some issues with Stereo bluetooth streaming with their iPhones, and firmware updates from Apple fixed that as well. You might want to call RIM and see if they have a beta firmware update that might resolved the connectivity issue.

 

HTC TyTn II will only transfer one contact at a time. But that was not a Toyota problem but a HTC one. Was quicker to set them up manually.

My old Razr had to be dumped to Outlook, then a contact file bluetooth transferred to my car. The car was ready for transfer, but Sprint's restriction to the phone model didn't allow the contacts to transfer

 

According to that site, my Samsung Instict will not transmit CID information to the screen when there's an incoming call. However, other phones through Sprint (HTC, Sanyo) will. So, I can only infer that the Prius' bluetooth system has the capability to receive and display said information. However, the phone doesn't have the ability to transmit in a usable manner.

 

I have the LG envy and it works great. Phone info including call origination shows up. My contacts transferred in a flash once I hit the transfer button. I believe the 2010 Bluetooth in the Prius is much improved and that it is the fault of all these phone manufacturers and providers who want to make their phone systems exclusive and different from the others. There needs to be some conformity in these systems. It's like going into stores and every darned store has a different device for electronic purchases, I wish those were more uniform as well.

 

My iphone 3g transferred contacts to my 2010 Nav with no problem.
The real issue is that it can't be used while driving. Fortunately I can dial from the iphone, but this defeats the purpose of being able to one touch dial or use my contact list while driving. Anyone heard of a lockpick for the 2010? I would love to be able to use the backup camera as a rearview mirror supplement while driving.

 

You can set your regularly called numbers to voice recognition. I am not sure if you can scroll with voice and choose numbers that way, that would be nice. I agree with you about the camera. I found in the rain the camera is not very good though.

 

If you transferred your contact, use the "dial by name" voice command option....

 

you can also access speed dial nos. while driving, or purchase the prestigious society hardware hack.

 

I have an LG LX370 and it does notwork, it takes in the contacts, connects, and then disconnects right away.

 

My view is the inability to transfer (at least in my case) is the product of Verizon crippling my phone. Toyota's big problem is the seeming inability to allow manually input contacts (name and phone#) into their phone book.

I have tried the steps listed on this site and so far I cannot input a contact. If anyone with a G2 has successfully manually input contacts into the phone book, I'd appreciate hearing how it was accomplished.

It depends on the phone if features if you are allowed to put in the contacts, individually, or all at once.

 

If you can sync your phone with outlook, you can create a file to dump via BT and a laptop to the Prius. It takes about 10 minutes of work, but is better than dumping one at a time.
